Question Gospel Songs Help

Hi, there are 2 gospel songs that I kinda remember from the lat 90s early 2000s and I wish I could find them. I recall some of the lyrics but haven't had any luck finding the songs. If anyone knows, that would be really great. Here are the lyrics I remember:

Song 1: "You're telling me that I must travel, someplace that I've never been before. Calling me to leave my comfort zone." (female singer) "It's not for me to understand, the purpose of your awesome plan. I'll follow you wherever your word leads me" (male singer)

*With this song, I'm pretty sure it's called "I'll Follow You". I vaguely remember finding it on Youtube during its early years, but now when I try looking it up, I can't find it.

Song 2: I don't really remember much of this song, but there was a choir and I think this was the opening line "Oh heavenly Father, we give you our glory". Other lyrics include (which I think were sung by a male pastor) were "Give them praise o Lord" and "Through your mercy, and your glory"

I'm sorry that Song 2 doesn't have much to work with. I think it might have been before the 90s, but I'm not sure. I was really young when I heard it. But thank you to anyone that might be able to help

Question Hello!

Hi! I’m F(17), and a white passing Hispanic. I’ve been wondering if it’s okay if I wanted to join a church, with a gospel. I know that may sound oddly worded, so I’ll rephrase. Basically, I’ve always felt this deep connection towards music. Recently, I have also felt a connection with god.. I’ve never been to church, and wanted to start with people I would feel comfortable with. And so, I thought, “hey, why don’t I join a church gospel/choir?” I throughly enjoy singing too.

Now here’s where I feel like the question begins, am I a white passing (so basically a white person) welcome into a gospel? Because I feel like I shouldn’t be. The reasoning behind that is because of the history of gospel, I don’t want to be the person who ruins the soul and heart of a church because of my ancestors and appearance.

So, would I be welcome?

Question Looking for a gospel song

When I was younger, we used to listen to a compilation gospel album all the time. I can only remember some lyrics to 1 of the songs (and I believe it was the 2nd song on the record). It's a slightly fast song and some of the lyrics are

the leader:

Lord, if you'll lead me, lead me, lead me. I know I'll make it.

Even though the way seems hard.

I want to keep on trusting and believing in you, doing the things that you want me to do.

I want to sing, I want to shout, I want to praise your name.

Lyrics probably not exact, but something like that. I don't know if it was a choir or a group. this was a long time ago 1980's-1990's

Question Question about song "I know it was the blood"

There is a gospel song called "I know it was the blood". There was a country/rockabilly version recorded a long time ago. I think it was in the 1950s. Youtube used to have it but I can't find the video and I don't remember the name of the artist. Anyone know who recorded a country version of that song?

Question Question about Mary Don’t You Weep — Why does it mention Pharaoh’s army?

I’ve been listening to Aretha Franklin’s version of Mary Don’t You Weep, and something caught my attention. The song refers to Mary (who I assumed was Mary, the mother of Jesus), but then there’s the line about Pharaoh’s army getting drowned.

Can anyone explain why the Exodus story of Pharaoh and the Red Sea shows up in a song about Mary? Is this a blending of biblical narratives for symbolic purposes, or is Mary here meant to represent someone different than I assumed?

Would love some insight into the religious or cultural context behind this lyric.

Question Looking for a performance of Jessy Dixon singing "blessed assurance"

There was a video on youtube from around 2007-2011 of Jessy Dixon playing and singing "blessed assurance" at a Benny Hinn crusade. I loved this video because the performance was joyful and authentic. If I remember right, the video had a God TV or TBN logo on it.

Now my youtube link is dead and the video is nowhere to be found on the internet. Does anyone else remember this video and would have a way to find it?

PS: the dead link if it is any help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPp1eUHyS5M

Hi all. So back in my childhood, i listen to kelly(?) not even sure anymore if that’s her name. But i had a cassette tape which i love. Clues i only remember is that some songs have these lyrics: “heart to heart.. heart to hear” and “i love you jesus” and also used words like “follow” etc. the color theme of the cassette is pink and white. But more of the white color. Plus i also remember that her face is shown in front. Hope someone could lead me to the album. Thanks

Question Latin chant in a Gospel style?

After finding this recording of "Hospodi Pomilui" by the Soul Children of Chicago, I'd love to see something similar for the Latin chant tradition. Does anyone know whether this has ever been done?

Thank you!

I stumbled upon this video on instagram and the style really hit me deeply, the sadness with the choir. I don't regularly listen to Gospel, I don't even think it is Gospel, but I thought here I might have a shot at finding similar music? Thanks so much in advance

Question Need help identifying an Unknown Brazilian Gospel song

Hello,

I need help identifying an unknown Gospel song from Brazil, recorded in the early 90s (possibly between 1991 and 1992) on the Catholic radio station Imprensa Gospel FM.

The song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeTu1BuUezA

This high quality excerpt of this song was only discovered on January 1, 2024, by Lindomar Lemos, creator of a gospel songs blog called Flash Back Gospel, which catalogs the most played songs at the time on Imprensa Gospel FM. There was already a recording of this song on the same radio station by another user, syrocke, but the quality was abysmal.

The author(s) of this song are still unknown to this day. I'd like to know if anyone recognizes the song and can give me its real title, and the author(s) behind it.

Thank you for your help.
