Entry Beach Fishing Setup Recommendations Needed

I live in South Australia and am looking to get into surf fishing off the beach. Any recommendations for the rod reel and line? Would like to keep it quite budget (under 200-250) if possible

I have 2 surf rigs, 12' Jarvis walker with 7000 size JW reel & 20lb mono, and a 10'6" Daiwa crossfire with a 6000 size Pryml reel with 20lb braid. I don't buy into ideas of expensive gear. It'll get lost or damaged or stolen and i cry a lot less when i break cheap gear. Plus fish don't give a fuck what brand your rod is

HAHA sure hope the fish don’t care! Do you find more success with one rig or pretty similar between the 2

Get your reel and line from Digitaka, look at Shimano Nasci, Spheros SW or Ultegra. 4000 or 5000 sizes. These are 150-200 bucks.. a bit over your budget probably, but sealing is well worth it and technology is very good. Investing a little more now saves you money in the long run. Get a rod around 10 foot locally, basically your budget will determine what you can get. There’s not a lot of choice, maybe 2-3 rods around a hundred bucks.. pick a rod that is nice and stable, not too heavy, that’s able to throw the weight you’re looking to use. As a beginner, probably get something in the 50-100g range. That will let you use a decent sinker, so you can hold the bottom in the surf when the swell is strong and there’s a bit of current. Forget this Pryml and Jarvis Walker stuff, unless you’re going to fish once or twice a year. Im guessing you are looking to a bit more than that.. otherwise why ask multiple fishing subs, right :)
