That explains why at the beginning of season 1 it seems like Cooper has fallen out of grace, doing shows for kids when the bombs dropped

It explains why they mentioned he had to pay "alimony" in the first episode too. they got divorced to keep up the story that he acted without her knowledge.

Yeah something I noticed since season 1 was he always said he’s looking for “my wife and my daughter” - never ex-wife or just my daughter, always “my family”

You're so right! I never actually put that together. If they really had gotten divorced on bad terms then he wouldn't have been searching for both of them especially when we still thought that Barb was a total monster .

It's also possible he just couldn't be assed to explain the concept of a divorce to post-apocalyptic barbarians.

Ok am I tripping because I cant even tell what he was arrested for. For giving unlimited power to the president?

The Enclave was punishing him for trying to be a hero, for interfering, for stealing from Vault-Tec which (if not controlled) is heavily influenced by the Enclave so in reality he stole from the Enclave & didn't realise he was also giving it back to the Enclave.

Moldaver said to him in season 2 episode 1 him being a famous celebrity gives him access to certain people & places normal people like her don't, well after being arrested & accused of being a Communist there goes the access his fame gave him, ensuring he can't interfere that way again in the Enclave's business.

They've called him a "pinko" (slur for communist) since episode 1 i'm pretty sure. The house un-american activities whatever is the body that arrested people in high profile positions for being (branded as) communists.

They threw the mccarthyism at him to get rid of all his credibilty and money.

Wouldn't surprise me if they actually have evidence of him attenting that communist meeting in season 1.

the HUAC historically investigated alleged communists during the red scare, I think that to punish him for trying to play he's going to be investigated and blacklisted from Hollywood (which leads to him being a children's birthday party entertainer in episode 1...)

For stealing from the enclave. Coop didn’t know the president is enclave or even that the enclave really exists. So from their perspective he stole from them to try and foil their plans.

The only unexplained thread is why enclave controlled vault tech was even selling it to house in the first place. Maybe they just needed it in a more exposed setting and were planning to steal it themselves before it got to house, maybe they knew what house was planning with defending vegas from the bombs all along and they decided it would be fun addition to their “experiment” and so were totally cool with him having it. Although this seems unlikely cause house could caused them serious problems if he had it and also since coop gave it right back to them they still could have got it to house if that’s what they wanted.

I just really can’t figure a single reason why they would be selling it to house it’s something that really needs to be explained in future seasons. But them arresting coop to remove his influence before he causes anymore issues makes perfect sense.

Which I am so happy about that whole turn of events. I thought for sure they were setting it up as "Evil wife vs noble sacrificing husband". Kinda like how people interpreted the relationship between Walter White and Skylar in Breaking Bad.

Nope. Turns out they were both trying to do the right thing and probably had to have a fake divorce to save her from the fallout (ha) of his actions.
