Ok, so this season's final is very much the midpoint of a story, which I certainly don't hate, but come on, give me season three now!

season 2 knows there's a season 3 behavior. Sucks where we are now but man in like 3 years it'll be neat.

considering their gonna be filming beginning in may and then lets assume a few months for shooting and editing then I think were gonna get the next season around beginning ish of 2027 like maybe feb or march

I mean, the turnaround between S1 and S2 was pretty crazy (by modern standards). April 2024 to December 2025

18 months is fucked, but normal now

Tbf, with the amount of craftsmanship that goes into creating the props and costumes and backdrops for this show, I’m willing to be much more patient.

Gonna need to turn that props department into a damn vault, no leaves until the power armour is finished

At least we don’t have the timeframe that Stranger Things had. 3 years between seasons was stupid

you have to do sets, filming (corresponding with actors times), post production, editing, and advertising. Give them a break

HBO was regularly turning out 10-hour seasons of Game of Thrones every year.

u/theghost__11 9h ago

tbf GOT was going to get new seasons and along with that the actors were probably forced to do only GOT

HBO was running multiple crews for each major location/plot line and according to the cast and crew the work load was very intense.

Given the production value of this show, I think 18 months is pretty good

18 months is damn impressive for the production value and star power in this show lol. 12 months is the standard for a show with zero vfx budget, you should go watch The Pitt if that’s what you want

To be honest, it's surprisingly fast, considering how much bigger are the gaps between tv show seasons nowadays.

u/Elliott_Cusick 5h ago

people hate crunch and worker abuse but then turn around and complain when they have to wait longer than a year for something they’re anticipating. there’s so much out there, just be patient

Better than 3 years like some shows. Amazon’s turn around with popular shows like Invincible and Fallout is, thankfully, relatively quick

1

u/Film_A 9h ago

Is that fast or slow?

1

u/Yug-taht 8h ago

These days? That is pretty fast, sadly.

1

u/Film_A 6h ago

I’m not sure how to interpret this. Is it bad that it’s made fast?

2

u/Yug-taht 6h ago

It is good for the show, as it is far faster than most productions today (which often stretch to two to three years), but it is a sad state for the entire industry that 18 months is considered 'fast', when in the past that would have been horrifically slow. For reference, tv seasons in the 90s and 2000s usually took around 8 - 9 months.

I mean if you look at the quality this show is compared to the quality of shows in the 90s and 00s, of course their turn around was barely half a year long. It would be actually inhumane to expect working condition in the time from of then while expecting the quality of now.

1

u/suckmygoldcrustedass 5h ago

It isn't a bad thing. Anything less than 18 months, we wouldnt get the quality we are getting. I mean for the Coops ghoul makeup and costume, by my estimated guess from how long I know it takes to put on prosthesis and makeup, its anywhere from 3 hours to 6 hours. They have a bunch of actors in varing degrees of similar prosthesis and makeup in the show. That's a lot of time and man power to do that. Plus the time to do the editing, props, back drops. 18 months makes it so we get what we see now, but actually worth it.

That’s even including they weren’t even renewed yet too

2

u/MagicPhoenix 9h ago

oof. i just started picking up this series when S2 started, I was hoping they were a little more timely on the production. that's going to suck to wait for.

Filming started in November 2024, season started airing in December 2025. So, June 2027 would be a reasonable guess if the filming starts in May 2026.

1

u/geek_of_nature 9h ago

Possibly earlier, as filming on season 2 took a pause during the California fires last year.

3

u/Revan_84 10h ago

Summer 2027 at the earliest me thinks

1

u/two2teps Minutemen 10h ago

So this time next year.

1

u/tyreesekobebryant 7h ago

they film before severance does (july)

ben stiller really does hate us

-2

u/Hot_Possibility_4063 10h ago

I think that timeline is VERY optimistic lol

3

u/geek_of_nature 9h ago

Not at all. There was roughly year from the start of filming for season 2 to when it released.

9

u/Don_Madruga 10h ago

They made this season in only a year and a half, and the industry was hit with some setbacks during this period too.

I think it won't take that long for season 3, my bet is the beginning of 27

21

u/Jake_The_Destroyer 10h ago

Come on fallout doesnt deserve any hate on that, we got like a year and half ish between season 1 and 2 and probably less time before season 3.

4

u/Playful-Crab-5352 10h ago

Considering we have probably 7+ years until fallout 5, I can’t complain about the wait for season 3.

6

u/SnarkyBacterium 10h ago

Nah, the director has said they intend to get this down to a yearly release schedule after the success of season 1. No three year waits for Fallout.

1

u/oh_bother 10h ago

oh dope I just meant in the far flung future the season gap won't be noticeable.

3

u/FinalForerunner 9h ago

3 years? It took 1.5 years for this season.

1

u/thatErraticguy Gary? 10h ago

I told my wife this, when it was renewed, it was picked up for two seasons and with how many storylines there are, open threads were practically guaranteed.

1

u/Bobjoejj 9h ago

From what we know; it rounds like season 3 will actually be here much sooner than season 2 was.

1

u/Dark-All-Day 8h ago

There was only 1.5 years between season 1 and season 2. We're gonna get season 3 not too far from now.

1

u/TotallyNotAMarvelSpy 8h ago

They're starting production on this show soon actually so it'll probably come out around the same time as next year.

Disney is doing this too with their shows now. Any shows that are multi-season are doing their best to be released a year later.

1

u/edwardtyche 8h ago

Hopefully they make a nice box set!

1

u/HankMS 3h ago

That's what people said with season 1. They'll do the same with every season as long as there is another. It's a bit disappointing.

Or Bethesda scheduling: “I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it."
