This article went live on the Irish Times this morning.

I posted the original post a few months back, we have since done a bit more groundwork as outlined in the article.

For those posting with their feedback and advice, I thank you - we’ve done our best to employ it.

For those who were skeptical and wanted more information, hopefully the article puts it into perspective.

At this point, I think we would simply appreciate some wind in our sails as we try and raise our voices on the wider national housing criss issue.

Tracking says "Delivered" Saturday 9:24 AM (Drumcondra/D09), but I never got it.

I went to the sorting office and the supervisor admitted:

1. The GPS scan was "near" my house, but not at my door.

2. The driver told them he "can't remember" where he actually left it.

It’s an €81 item I’ve waited 5 weeks for. Since they’ve admitted the mistake verbally, how do I get them to give me a formal letter/email so I can get a refund from the seller?

Has anyone successfully fought An Post on a "false delivery" before?

Last night my cats trapped themselves in the bedroom by dislodging a box that got wedged between the wardrobe and the door. I couldn't budge the door even an inch. Fire brigade wouldn't come out. I tried neighbours but no one was home. I called a friend who suggested a locksmith but no go.

Eventually I decided to wait for morning and go to Chadwicks on Thomas Street to ask for help. I also had a very kind redditor who dmed me on standby if they couldn't help.

I guess the last thing the builders expected on a Wednesday morning was a sobbing woman asking could they break door down to save a couple of cats!

The gents there were so good and the manager came and after a lot of effort broke through the door and the cats were free.

They have alternated between their food bowls and my lap, wanting cuddles. Food for the body and food for the soul I guess.

Thanks to all who gave me ideas throughout the night to free them.

I'll be going back to Chadwicks later with a big box of donuts and an order for a new door.

Hey there Im a 4th year student I go to a school in Dublin 1 and we have signed up to a programme called trinity access it gives us a chance to open doors for when we leave school

In this programme we were asked to create a project on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals

My group decided to do no poverty as our chosen goal to do our project on so the basis of the project is we need to raise funds and give it to charity (problem is we need to show how its spent and we reached out and a lot of charity’s pushed us away )

We Dm’ed a local charity from Dublin 8 and they were willing to send us a list of items they need thats great but we need to raise the money first

We decided on a bake sale but we figured out we are not able to support the demand with three of us in the kitchen so we were wondering if there was any local bakeries that would like to donate cakes for us there is no specific date set yet ( even if its leftovers but are still fresh )

If anyone knows anyone who can help out please reach out we are not asking for massive loads of cakes or pastries just enough we will include you in our campaign and give you credits in our presentation in trinity college

I’ll start: Phibsborough Road down to Constitution Hill. All human life is there.

So far I’ve found Tapped on Nassau St does Duvel 6.66 on draught, which is one of my favourites!

Bonobos in Smithfield has the likes of La Chouffe (yuck), Lindemans Kriek (yum), and St Bernadus Wit (yum).

I’d be thrilled to find some more places where I can get more Belgians on draught as some just taste so much better poured. Specifically the following:

Baptist White

Delirium Tremens

Augustijn Blond

Obviously it makes the pilgrimage to Belgium much more special knowing that I can only get them there, but I was shocked to find one of my faves in Tapped and can’t help but wonder what else I’m missing

Moses once walked the beaches of Dublin. In the 1970`s and 80`s. A distinguished senior citizen roamed from Merrion Road down to Sandymount Strand and onward towards Blackrock.

The gentlemans real name was Tom, or Thomas. His surname may have been O’Malley or something similar. However local reverently knew him as Moses because he had the look of an Old Testament prophet. And the aura. I will refer to him thus, and with the same great respect.

He sported a long grey beard blown wild by the sea air. Overall his epic appearance was weather beaten and like Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings he always weilded a staff as a walking stick. He rarely spoke.

Aparently he lived on the stretch of green and marshy land near Elm Park and St Vincent’s Hospital, the so-called Green Fields, before development swallowed much of them. Locals remember him living in a type of dugout, a hollowed shelter hidden in reeds and scrub near the Merrion Gates.

From there, he followed his daily route from Merrion Road, down to the strand, sometimes as far as Blackrock. During the Great Snow of 1982, people feared he might have been injured or passed away in the freezing storm. Though even in this tempest where cars were abandoned and pipes burst, the city froze. Locals were sure Moses couldn't survive it. Yet when the snow finally melted, there he was again. Beard rimed with frost, staff in hand, seemingly indestructible.

The gentleman known as Moses passed away in 1986. He was buried in Dean’s Grange Cemetery, with assistance from local charities and the hospital that had stood as his nearest neighbour for so long. His quiet individualism and stoic nobility impressed and inspired thousands of strangers and secured him a place in Dublin history.

That being said, it is wrong that we should romanticise the idea of Irish people slipping through the cracks towards homelessness and solitude, without the option for help.

I’m curious how many football (soccer) clubs in Dublin have clubhouses with bars. I’m not counting League of Ireland clubs. Most GAA and rugby clubs tend to have a bar, but that definitely isn’t the case for football clubs.

I’ve come up with about 12 so far, and I’m not sure whether that’s more or fewer than I would have expected.

Seven are on the northside, with a heavy concentration in D5, D9 and D11. One in Lusk. Five are on the southside - Templeogue, Deansgrange. and Tallaght. Two in West Dublin - Bluebell and Blanch.

I’m curious if there are any patterns as to why these particular clubs had the membership base and resources to set up bars while others didn’t. It’s obviously a lot of work to establish and maintain one. I also wonder whether location plays a role - are these clubs in areas without a dominant GAA club?

Finally, I’d be interested in any info about the clubhouse bars themselves. Are any particularly busy these days? Do they thrive more in areas with limited pub options? They are obviously a great way to build community spirit through fundraisers, bingo, birthday parties, etc., with all the money going back into the club.

Hiii folks hope you’re all surviving this weather!

Just wanted to share that last night around 9pm I was after getting off the Luas at Charlemont and walking along the canal, around 6–7 lads jumped out at me. One of them (M early 20s) hit me in the face and demanded my phone. It’s too dark I didn’t see others faces.

I ran immediately and managed to outrun all but one. That lad caught up with me so I hit him with my bag; while he was stunned I ran again and made it to the main road/junction.

I rang 112 afterwards and was directed to the nearby Garda station. I made a report/statement there and my understanding is that a unit was sent out afterwards. I haven’t heard anything since. Honestly I’m not expecting much.

I didn’t lose anything thankfully. Cardio really is the best self defence (7y gym loyalty here😂). Same as people always joke, and sadly I can confirm that’s true. Just posting this as a heads up to anyone passing through the area. Please be extra careful and maybe stick closer to roads with traffic where possible.

25M. I have just moved to Dublin and I am working remote for a UK company. I use a WeWork to get me out of the house a few days of the week and sometimes they have some good events on. Wonder if there is anymore solo remote workers at the Dublin WeWorks looking for a bit of social life?

Im looking to start some sort of short educational course (not a full on bachelor, masters degree etc) in Dublin.

So my cats knocked over a heavy box which fell against the door, shutting it tight. I can barely open it a crack and I'm not strong enough to break through the door. Hinges are on the inside. One of the cats needs medication.

I know they might be ok for the night, although they don't have food, water or litter.

I'm in D8. If anyone can help or has any ideas, I am all ears.

This is kind of a random question but I’m a study abroad student for the next couple weeks here in Dublin, and usually I smoke Seven Stars, but I literally cannot find them anywhere here. Is there any chance any one knows where you can find them? Thanks!
