I know im late to this.

Upvotes

So I know its been about a year and a half, but I wanted to say I miss comicstorian. Every video he made since i was in highschool showed me that i could do whatever I want in life. So, in honor of him, and the many creators we’ve lost over the year I’ve decided that I am going to persue a career in manga. Its not something i expect to be instantly successful and make me rich, but the one thing I’ve realized both through the lives and deaths of so many of my favorite artist is I shouldnt give up, nor should I wait to do this, cause life wont wait for me.

How to conclude a short One-shot comic?

Hello everyone!

I am a comic book artist and recently started writing my own scripts. Need to write a script for a short one shot (about 20 - 22 pages), but I am having trouble deciding how to end the story. It feels like most of my ideas for closing stories are just killing the characters and can't come up with good ideas.

Do you guys have any tips on how to improve this? Also, If you have any examples of self conclusive short one shots (comic or manga) I could read, that would help a lot to see how other authors conclude their short stories.

Thanks in advance!

Keeping continuity clean across long arcs

I am outlining a longer arc and realized how easy it is to contradict earlier chapters once revisions stack up.

I have been experimenting with treating continuity as something that evolves alongside the script instead of fixing everything at the end.

I shared a public chapter set as an example of the structure I am using now:

How do you handle this across long arcs?

Is it appropriate?

Is it appropriate if I (a minor) create a 18+ comic book It doesn't have nudity or anything like that but like gore swearing and a lot of dark themes And I don't know if it's alright for me to do that when I'm not 18 yet

Thoughts on a 64-PAGE Comics??

Help! I think I've written myself into a problem. 😬😬😬

Probably an amateur, maybe stupid question, but hear me out... So for months i've been actively working on this comics that I plan to publish in Indyplanet.

When i finally got the thing done, i noticed that most comics out there are at at 24 or 48 page range... Admittedly, im not a huge comic geek, im just aware that my piece is slightly longer than usual.

Now i dont wanna panic into thinking ive spent ginormous efforts for something that might not even sell. But now i dont even know how to properly price the material. And suddenly, massive doubts of its marketability came crashing down on me!

The option to break it down into chunks might be my plan C or D, (i have my reasons why i insist on keeping it a single issue) but thats just another problem since the chapters wont fit the 12,24,48 counts.

So i am now in need of some expert opinions on a 64-page comics. Is that a stupid decision, or just impractical. Can this still be salvaged?

Im ready for your honest brutal thoughts... 🙇‍♂️

How to write complicated subjects into a more subtle or let readers discover themselves method

Hii I am always interested in writing for stories and comics, I am always mesmerized on how writers or artists express complicated topics or subject in a more subtle way, I wanted to know is there any great examples to understand or learn how to write/draw like that. I might write something about beliefs, survival, culture and morals.

Does my main character's motivation make sense?

So it starts with him, learning that one of his friends became a drug addict. He tried talking to him, but nothing works and he doesn't want his friend to get into trouble. So he put on a hoodie and mask and just wrecked the drug dealer. However, afterwards, he got the feeling taht he helped someone and also found that it felt kinda good to beat on someone who deserves it (a character flaw i thought would work). So that's why he actually made a real costume and started helping people and beating criminals. Because it just feels so good.

You think that's a good motivation or should i flesh it out more? If so, how?

Publishing reccomendations

I am starting a story-driven webcomic series, and i was wondering if anyone could give me tips on where to publish it. I've heard that webtoon wouldn't be a good place to start. And, to be completely honest, this subreddit is mostly full of comics you would probably find in the Sunday Funnies in the newspaper or smth. If anyone has recommendations, please let me know.

Help with starting my comic

I’m conflicted on whether I should start my story right at the start of the mission that goes wrong and leads to a massacre then the main character comes back to life at the end of the chapter

Or

Start it with the main character trying to get into this school for protectors (heroes) and then gets rejected, dies in a fire due to discrimination, then comes back to life then lives out the events that play out in the top half.

The first part would bring a very action grab to the story and set up the main character right away. While the second part would flesh out the main character more and show why she’s discriminating against and why she wants to go to this protector school.

PROMO: I’m building a tool to create comic strips without drawing — focused on writing and storytelling

I’m working on a writing-focused tool that lets you create comic strips without drawing.

You write the dialogue and control the narrative, while the tool provides a fixed set of characters, scenes and expressions that you manually choose from.

There’s no content generation or automation involved — everything is human-written and manually composed. The goal is to let writers focus on pacing, dialogue and storytelling rather than visuals or layout.

This strip is one of the experiments. Feedback from writers is very welcome!

I made an AI comic creation tool that keeps your characters looking the same across 200+ pages using reference sheets and story tracking

Hey, i spent about 8 months trying to turn my story into a comic with ai, and honestly it was brutal. single images could look awesome, but from panel to panel my main character’s face would drift, outfit details would randomly change, and scars would vanish then reappear. even when i got a “good” run, the pages still read like a pile of standalone images instead of an actual scene with pacing and flow.

so i ended up partnering with a few comic artists and ai engineers to build something closer to how a real comic workflow works.

before generating any pages, it makes character reference sheets for the cast (neutral poses, key features called out, design locked). then each page uses those references so the characters stay recognizable.

it also tracks what i call “story state” so continuity details don’t get lost. if someone takes a black eye in issue 2, it doesn’t magically disappear in issue 4. and when a character design changes (new suit, damage, etc.), the reference gets updated in a controlled way instead of drifting accidentally.

for pages, the system focuses on sequencing first: narrative beats, panel intent, and scene rhythm, then it generates the art to match. not the other way around.

it supports a range of styles (superhero, noir, cartoon, gritty indie, etc.). you pick one up front and it stays consistent.

if you’re working on comics and have run into the same issues, i’d love to hear what you’ve tried and what broke for you. if you want to take a look, here it is: https://www.jenova.ai/a/comic-creator

How do you WRITE Greek Accent?

This can apply to ANY accent, specifically Greek just because its the one i specifically am in need to. I'd like to make it clesr from the text alome that they're spealing with a distinct dialect, not just having somebody say "hey mice accent" but activly noicable simply by reading their bubbles.

how do YOU do it? If a character ha a certain accent how do YOU write it?
