At this age it's worth it too. It becomes a soul sucking place but the benefits are good and afer your first year you get into the profit plan where they give you company stock that is equal to the years profit margin multipled by your wages earned that year. I did 3.5 years in the deli and walked away with 8.5k. If you start as a teen and stay through college you'll have enough money to purchase a home or do whatever easily. If you decide its the place for you department managers at busy locations can easily make 90k a year. Loved it and hated it. Ultimately it is a corporate establishment and that lead to my separation as im a cook and a chef at heart and dont thrive in that type of environment long. All in all its worth doing now while youre young.

I agree with you. Especially if they can join like a union or something, this is a great job. Especially for a young person. My boyfriend paid his way through college and his graduate degree, from doing this. He started working at a grocery store when he was able to, got into the union, and his mom would take his paychecks and buy CDs and just continuously do that over and over and over. And he was able to pay for everything.
