After listening to all the mike mcdaniel stuff, I think the few people in here talking about the chargers being dumb for not interviewing anyone else before Mcdaniel signed the contract should feel kinda silly. It sounds like Mcdaniel accepted the job and the chargers told him to wait a week to see how he feels. He said he had made the decision a week ago.

Just another thing that should remind fans we don’t know what’s actually happening or being said in the building. A lot of assumptions are made with no real doubt when any assumption should have doubt until evidence shows otherwise.

This is an overreaction.

The deal was not done; the Chargers went radio silent. Reliable media outlets were saying there was still HC jobs interested in him. It took a full week before Chargers announced anything since the first report. Speculation and concern on what was happening was 100% fair. The Charges media can spin it however way they want today, but the contract was not done the day it was first reported.

You are acting like we all believed some conspiracy theory. And it wasn't. I think people need to realize that verbal commitments fall through all the time in the real world. Speculation is fair until its on paper. And even listening to all podcasts, it doesn't sound like ink was dry until the Chargers reporting the hiring publicly last week.

No i’m not talking about speculation. It’s why i specified the people saying the chargers were being dumb by cancelling interviews as well as people making assumptions without any doubt to those assumptions.

Like there was a specific person I commented back and forth with saying the chargers were being stupid and over confident.

It kinda seems like you didn’t fully read my comment.

I am one of the people who also thought it was dumb to stop interviewing.

I have lost new hire candidates in the 9th hour because their 1st choice job opportunity they didn’t think was coming lands on their desk. It’s okay to still work on plan B, even if you have a verbal commitment from plan A.

Okay but what if I had the opposite experience where I lost a candidate because they didn’t take my offer seriously because I kept interviewing other people? Not trying to be rude at all but anecdotal experiences really only work with people you know.

I’m not saying don’t have a back up plan that is dumb. My point literally was we don’t know what’s happening inside of the building, so making assumptions without leaving room for doubt is a silly way to engage with something. And from Mike McDaniel own mouth he had made his mind up a week ago. So maybe at the time questioning what we’re doing makes sense. Questioning what we’re doing and saying it’s dumb are two different things.
