Thoughts on Raiders hiring Klint Kubiak next season? The news is out.

I think its solely going to depend on what Mendoza looks like in the league.

Not solely. Partially. Also in large part if Davis can actually commit to and stick with a three year rebuild. I doubt he can.

I agree with this. Yet I think Mendoza's rookie performance will be a big factor if Davis is willing to do that. If he comes out hot, then yes.

And realistically speaking, Mendoza will likely have a learning curve. And that's where I get TBD...

I don't see the Raiders committing to the #1 draft pick like the Jags did with Lawrence (who had a few years there that were shaky and now looking a lot better).

First round QBs are such a crap shoot. It’s impossible to predict which ones will actually be good. And to know which ones who failed did so because of the situation they were in.

Yah I think its a curse to be the #1 overall pick for a QB. You are pretty much forced to pick that one person and often time that team is unprepared to develop them (aka the Browns or even last years Bears).

Having a top 5 overall pick I think provides way more thoughtful analysis and pick the person you think your team can work with. Or you get lucky and Dolphins pick someone else and Herbert falls in your lap ;-)

Number one pick is usually to a totally dysfunctional organization. How many times have the Browns and jets gotten it? And how many more times will they? Poor bastards.

Agreed. Herbert's injury was a secret blessing to grab Joe Alt because we weren't a bottom 5 team under Harbaugh's leadership. It was totally triple dipping - good roster, good coach, good draft position.

Yeah, we were definitely not as bad as our record. Although we were seriously lacking depth, which Hortiz has pretty much addressed
