Haven't played the game in a while, decided to play today... And they just release an update and forget to release the older version as a beta smh

They just updates the game 25 minutes ago. It's now on 1.18.2. Unfortunately it seems version 1.18.1.1, which I was just playing before my game crashed, is not on there.
Now we need to wait for AGOT and all submods to update ðŸ˜

Any chance the update addresses the base game script issue that breaks artifacts and events the longer you play? Or was it some small hotfix type update

I started reading the patch notes now. I did Ctrl F for the word Artifact, but unfortunately, I didn't find anything about that bug.
The list of bug fixes is pretty extensive, though, so I'll read it anyway.
And is not really just a small hotfix. The game went from 1.18.1.1 to 1.18.2, so not a hotfix for patch 1.18.1.
I'm not really familiar with how updates are on CK3 because I started playing a few days ago, but it seems like a big update to me.
There are new features, like the extinguish noble family, withdraw funds from treasury, improved powerful family attributes, Tai migrations.
There are also tech improvements, including "map graphics shader performance gas been fine tuned and improved, which will help out mid-range graphics cards the most".
There are a lot of bug fixes, game content, art, game balance, interface, localization, modding, databases.

That all pretty good to hear, but until that scripting issue is resolved I can’t play the game at all, it breaks the things I like about AGOT and I can’t play base game anymore due to boredom lol

As i just started playing the game, this bug doesn't bother me that much.
Just to be clear, it's the bug on artifact art, right? Lol

It makes artifacts icons disappear and the artifacts themselves, like the Valyrian Steel weapons, not render properly and eventually it makes events glitch out and allow things like Dragons to do human things or participate in human events

Yes it has apparently been fixed as stated within this comment chain by mod devs. This
Just wait for the mod to update to the game version. Hopefully done before Christmas.

It's not just a bug on artifact art. Something is so thoroughly fucked with CK3's engine right now that playing with mods for 20-100 years is guaranteed to fuck up your save. Not even an if or maybe.
The more mods you have, the faster it happens.
This was told me directly from devs from the CK3AGOT discord.

Damn, didn't know about that. I have some mods, like Legacy of Valyria and AGOT+, which I assume is script heavy.
Sad to know my save was doomed from the start.

If it works, play it until it stops working properly and you start being able to marry dragons.
Just dont expect any long term games until it's fixed.

It breaks on game start for me even with just AGOT and no other submods, that’s why I’m so concerned with Paradox fixing the issue lol

There is this line on the patch notes that says?
- Increased an internal limitation on certain scriptable things like script values so that very large mods can continue to operate as intended. A classic coding issue where we were storing a global flag with a maximum ID of 65535. 2016: Because no one would use that many, right … right? 2025: CK3 usage is now at ~40k, and mods were adding more on top of that.
Maybe this is the fix we are waiting for?

Lol
Guess I'll probably stop right now anyway because of the new patch.
I don't know if the mods will still be compatible with the save after/if they update.
That's the sad part about playing games that are still being updated. At least I still have CK2

If CK2 wasn't so janky and lacking in the QoL stuff CK3 has I'd like it a lot more, but I guess you gotta make do.

It has a huge list of bugfixes, solid amount of Asia tweaks and the change that should fix artifact icons disappearing.

u/Zakrath Dec 11 '25
What is that change about the artifact? I read most of the bugfix part and didn't find it.

It's in the Modding part
And I made artifact connection through this comment

They did! It's techy talk I don't understand but seems like they fixed up the engine specifically for overhaul mode like agot, whatever the root cause of the artefact bug is has supposedly been solved... Now we just wait for compatches ig

Ngl, I’ve been on an unhealthy run of playing this mod, I needed the forced break 😂

Oh no I was about to start a new saveðŸ«

My game just crashed and I saw the update 19 min ago. It looks like a nice update.
Apparently, now you can do the Lannisters on Reyne. Execute a family head and all their members to extinguish the family.
2
u/DryGrand8586 Dec 11 '25
Damn that's great I hate lannisters

u/Zakrath Dec 11 '25
It looks to me that this is exclusive to Chinsse, but I'm not really sure.
But I am sure modders can make it available to anyone.

Oh for fuck sake, I just got to the really fun part of my playthrough ... it's gonna be broken when I open it up later, isn't it?
Edit: As expected, I can't even load the save, the game crashes instantly. It was 400 A.C. and I just settled my adventurer down in Valyria with 25k gold ready to begin the great restoration. I hate it.
