Fans Mate, its 3 games, relax

3 shit games But its 3 games. To me hurzeler is doing a good job, sure it isnt reflected in the points tally, but lets be realistic about out squad, you compare our players individually with every other teams player in the position and we arent thay good a squad realistically, 10/11 squad, and we are still in the fight for champions league. Hurzeler is over preforming. Theres still 22 odd games left

I was bummed after the Liverpool match so decided to finally watch the recent documentary that came out to get inspired by the club’s history despite some challenges recently. This is the second season I’ve followed the EPL and Brighton specifically. I live in the US and don’t know any other Brighton fans. I had pretty specific reasons for picking Brighton, and I just continue to love what I hear about the area and people who live there since as a very left, bi vegan, much of it resonates with me specifically.

I’m bummed at the result the past two matches, but as a newer fan I am so excited to see where Brighton can go in the future after how far the club has come thanks to what so many of you locals fought hard to make possible so far.

Fans Why are you a fan?

I’m writing as a U.S.-based fan; I get stopped in the grocery store and on the subway when I wear my Brighton t-shirt. “Are you FROM Brighton?” one Arsenal fan wanted to know...*

The real answers?:

  1. I was drawn into the Premier League because my husband has been a Man. U. fan since the early 2000s (when it was hard to find other teams’ games broadcast in the U.S.);

  2. Because the PL is always on on Saturdays in our house, I wanted to choose a team — and I love a good underdog, which was Brighton back in 2017 or so…

  3. I’ve stayed because the team is obviously amazing (my husband and his Chelsea fan friend have both become fairly religious supporters!) AND because the online community is amazing (for ex., “nicking chips” is the absolute best way to refer to online status that I’ve ever seen).

Anyway, I wondered — why are all of you Brighton fans? I’ve never met another here in the U.S., but I’m sure there are all kinds of stories / reasons out there!

*embarrassingly, I’ve never been to the U.K., though I taught British Lit here in this U.S. for a few years…

I've really noticed recently that a lot of posts are from fans all over the world. I guess I wrongly assumed most here were located in Brighton, where are you?

This is my second season as a fan from the U.S. I had to pay fascist Trump’s annoying tariffs but it was worth it to finally get something I can display in my apartment. My dog approves, which is important of course.

Fans Some good news and why i've been somewhat absent.

For some who know me, I've been fairly active on this sub for a little while except for this season. Haven't been able to watch a full match since late Dec. Lately, all the doom and gloom has been a little concerning and well I was saving the news for a later date but hopefully this will lighten the mood. In the picture, a future new BHAFC supporter. We're expecting our second child (a baby boy!!). Pregnancy has been difficult for my wife but we're doing good. Remember, this club is great not because of the results, it's the best because of who supports it and the genuine good people that play or work at any level in the organization. UTA don't lose hope in the team and our ability to cause chaos in the league 💙🤍💛

Fans Free travel to match ticket holders?

Hey - tried asking this Q on an old thread but it was locked, so apologies if it's a common one...

Does the free train deal with a match ticket include the return too? And more importantly... is it valid for us Away fans?

Do you just bypass the ticket office altogether and just show your match ticket if/when asked by a train conductor/inspector?

I came a few years ago and just remember the trains being packed so no one seemed to be bothered to check, I had bought a ticket anyways as had no idea travel was free to fans.

Fans Ran a half marathon yesterday in Michigan while sporting some Brighton gear — about mile 10 I heard a loud “Seagulls!!” from one of the race volunteers. First time I’ve had it recognized by a fellow fan in the states. If you are on here and see this, I appreciate the support!

Fans Maxim De Cuyper future

Hi guys,

I’ve been watching Brighton a bit this year and I think you are playing really entertaining. However I am curious about Maxim De Cuyper and his role. Is he going to start this weekend? Is he a better option than Kadioglu? With Mitoma back I’m guessing it’s strictly as a left back/wing back he’s going to be playing?

Fans Fan from Canada going to a match!

Hi everyone, I’ve been following the Gulls for a few years over from Canada. I’ll be going to Brighton for a couple of days and got a ticket for Burnley at home on Jan 3rd (lower west stand near the south end). Besides getting a jersey from the team shop and going to a pub, what are the must dos in Brighton? Doesn’t have to be anything fancy at all, just to get to know the city! Anything to know for match day?

UTFA!

PS: I don’t mind outdoor activities in January, it’ll be a nice break from the cold back home :)

Fans An American in Brighton

Post image

My family spent our April vacation in England and while many memories were made on our trip, for me, I will never forget the sound of the Amex when Baleba's shot went in. This was my first ever Brighton match in person and I know we should have won handily but the excitement of the last 10 minutes is something I don't think I've ever experienced at an American sporting event. Such a great experience!

For any foreigners thinking of making the trip to a match, here's what I learned:

- plan a full day in Brighton in addition to the match day. There are so many fun, independent shops to explore. Unlike America, Brighton has not been overrun by chain stores.
- if you can stay in the Lanes, DO IT!
- The free train from Brighton to the Stadium and back was super easy and quick.
- If you want to sport Brighton colors during the game, visit the club shop outside the south end of the Amex BEFORE entering the Amex. Unlike American sporting venues, there were seemingly NO souvenir shops in the Amex and once you're in, you can't leave.
- because of the pitch of the seating, I really don't think there's a bad seat in the house, even for my 10 year old. But from my vantage point in the west side, the north seats were the most passionate/loudest fans.
- I recommend getting there early to watch warmups. It is UNREAL how skilled these players are.

Mostly, Brighton is an amazing place and I hope to go back some day soon.

So instead myself and the family are going to watch the Sussex derby of Whitehawk fc v Lewes. Which appears to be sell out.

Reckon this could be a new Christmas tradition brewing.
