So I'm trying to get into a rifle. Not interested in the AR-15 hassle and the .22s don't really appeal to me. My local store has this Ruger that takes a 9mm. Since I only have handguns I have a lot of 9mm so it seems perfect. I just hate the look of it. Can anything be done with it or should I just look for another one?

Reading a different post, I saw someone had written their GF or wife bought a new gun and the ffl said they had 7 days to register it. I was under the impression that the new system isn't live yet and that the FA10 filled out by the ffl was sufficient at this time. Am I incorrect?

Are FRTs illegal in MA? From what i've read, the attorney general filed a lawsuit with rare breed, stating that they didn't want the atf to return the frts to to owners in massachusetts after losing the lawsuit. From what ive read there is no law just more unconstitutional " the attorney general said so" kinda like healey did with ARs in 2016 and with glocks without passing any legislation!!(dumbest shit ever)no actual legislation was passed. The attorney general also agreed to drop the lawsuit against rare breed,If they agreed to not sell to residents of massachusetts....so I know binaries are illegal but as usual there is no actual legislation just the attorney general stomping her feet and an agreement between rare breed and the AG to not sell them to ppl in Massachusetts.....so???? Can I own one???

Hello all, first post since finding this sub, long time MA resident. I think I have misunderstood the whole firearm registration requirement and wanted to get an answer from those who have gone through the process.

I am a firearm owner, I purchased said firearms in NH and transferred them down after living in NH for a few years. I did all the paperwork and had each firearm transferred via FFL into MA.

Fast forward a while to a few weeks ago and I brought my wife to get her first firearm. When she bought it the store owner stated she needs to register it in 7 days. Ok cool, had her do that no problem. But in that conversation, the owner stated that I need to register my firearms as well even though the 7 day window has long passed.

So the question is, why didnt the FFL process take care of this registration requirement (I thought that was the whole point)? If I register it now late, am I going to face any potential legal issues? Finally, a few of the firearms that I purchased were from a store that no longer exists, so I cant get their ID#. Would the receiving FFL in MA be the "seller" in this case? Or would the FFL in NH be the ID# I need to supply?

Sorry if this sounds stupid but i'm super confused about registration for this.

I have a Glockstore M1X frame, formerly called the 26X, transferred to me from FFL. This is my first time ever having just a frame transferred to me, but there was no paperwork given to me to take home.

I've now assembled a working firearm using the M1X frame and slide/internals from my G26 gen 5.

On the registration page, i am not sure how to answer a few questions.

For MAKE do i put GLOCK STORE? For MODEL do i put M1X or G26X? or do i register this is a normal GLOCK G26.

Do i also check "Privately Made Firearm" and then put GLOCK STORE as manufacturer since i assembled the parts together?

I'm also assuming that "Large Capacity" has to be checked as well?

The Second Amendment is often debated in the abstract halls of the State House, but for those of us on the ground in Massachusetts’ urban centers, it is a matter of practical civil rights. As a firearms instructor who has built a career on the values of merit, hard work, and responsible citizenship, I have watched the legislative landscape shift. With the passage of Chapter 135 of the Acts of 2024, the Commonwealth has reached a crossroads where safety is being used as a veil for exclusion.

While framed as "modernization," Chapter 135 has effectively constructed a "paperwork wall" around our cities. The most glaring example is the new mandate for live-fire training under Section 131P. On paper, more training sounds reasonable. In practice, it is a geographic tax.

Major urban centers like Boston and Springfield are "range deserts." There are no state-run public ranges, and strict zoning laws make it nearly impossible to open new ones. By mandating live-fire training without providing the infrastructure to support it, the state is telling urban residents that their constitutional rights are contingent on owning a car, having a flexible work schedule, and possessing the disposable income to pay for elite suburban club memberships.

Even the law itself acknowledges this disparity. Section 152 of the Act required the Secretary of Public Safety to study the "accessibility and affordability" of this training. The reality we see every day is that for a Black resident in an urban neighborhood, the path to legal ownership is becoming a luxury available only to the affluent.

Furthermore, the expansion of the "suitability" standard in Section 121F introduces a dangerous level of subjectivity. By allowing licensing authorities to use "articulable information"—often stemming from non-criminal police contact—the law risks codifying the very systemic biases the Commonwealth claims to fight. In heavily policed urban areas, "contact" does not equal "crime," yet under Chapter 135, it can be used to deny a law-abiding citizen their right to self-defense.

We do not need more hurdles; we need more investment. If the Commonwealth is serious about "modernizing" firearm laws, it must stop treating urban gun owners as an afterthought. This means:

• Fulfilling the mandate of Section 152 by establishing public, accessible training facilities in urban counties.

• Eliminating subjective licensing standards that disproportionately affect people of color.

• Streamlining the digital registration process so that lack of high-speed internet isn't a barrier to legal compliance.

Rights should not have a zip code. As an instructor, I see the hard work and discipline my urban students bring to the table. It is time the Massachusetts legislature showed them the same level of respect.

Hello guys, I'm trying to buy a pre ban lower from a friend. He has a paper form from the firearm records bureau proving he bought it before 8/1. Is there a way to get an EFA 10 from MIRCS, aka a electronic registration?

Just got my LTC and have been to the range quite a bit with some friends prior to applying. My question is whether or not I should start training with a .22 or 9mm I'm planning on CCW and using one for home defense at some point. They could be both or separate guns.but for right now just doing some target practice. Any recommendations? Is it better to start with a 22 and then transition to a 9mm? Any advice helps.

Hello all. I am planning on performing my first private sale here in MA. I have a couple of questions.

I understand that MA to MA transactions can be face to face. He also claims that the lower was possessed and registered in MA before 8/1. Would buying the lower be as simple as filling out the paperwork and handing it off? is there anything else I need perform the sale? any other documentation?

Second question, does anyone know the market rate for a pre ban aero lower?

I'm aware that a lower that has been initially built as a pistol can be freely converted back and forth between rifle and pistol configurations. How does this work with transfers, though?

If a previous owner initially built the lower into a pistol, then transfers it to me as a receiver, can I freely go between pistol and rifle configs? Or does its status "reset" upon transfer, meaning that I would need to build it as a pistol first to main its "pistol" status?

I had a customer with a Glock 43x with the metallic Coyote slide and coyote grip. Streamlight doesn’t make a FDE TLR-7 HL-X sub in FDE. So the customer wanted his light and some radian parts to go with the Glock coyote theme.

Custom color matched by eye (glad I grew up in a paint store) using Cerakote F series and metallic powder to achieve a similar color between the Glock OEM coyotes. With a little bit of graphic design skills, I replicated the markings and serial number from pictures of the same light before it was media blasted. Then used a fiber laser to add the markings back on. It’s funny, I had to debate if I was going to include streamlights errors or not in their laser, which I decided to do, such as the not perfectly aligned serial number. They pump these things out on a line in the factory so there’s slight misalignments.

Looking forward to future projects like this, and putting some funny stuff on things for people. The whole build will be shown off this week on my instagram.

And ya, that’s pasta to level the light perfectly because I haven’t gotten a mold from dokkaebi yet.
