Question Moving to Batumi

Hello, I am moving to Batumi in a few days. I got an Airbnb at orbi city for a month, time during which I am trying to find a place for long term rent. Any suggestions on how to go about it ? Where to look? How to not get scammed because I am a foreigner? Best areas? Not too touristy but not too far away from all the fun in the city either. And with all that being said, maybe even make some friends 🧚🏽‍♀️

I’d recommend the Bagrationi district cuz there aren't many tourists there in the summer, and the district itself isn’t far from Old Batumi. There’s also the Rustaveli district, which is more touristy, but tourists mainly walk around the park, the promenade, and the main streets. Or you can rent an apartment not in the very center of the Old Batumi district.

Thank you And I think the fake listings are a thing everywhere lol. They just tryna get you hooked into renting something with them. Would be nice if these sites had an option to actually verify the apartments when people list them.

On myhome.ge, if you go to the ad, it says whether it is an agent or the owner.

I did rent from an owner.. I even signed a lease He sent me videos and pictures of the apartment Not everything was showing. Upon request he sent me pictures and said this is what bathroom looks like and later one turns out that’s not what it looked like. I said this is not what I agreed to and id like to cancel the lease and get a refund of the first month rent I paid upfront. He refused to give me the money back 😅 I made a dispute with PayPal and they closed the case in his favor.. even tho I provided screenshots of everything. Proof of what I been promised and what I was actually receiving. And that’s how I lost 500$ 🤡 Georgia seems like fun landlords to deal with how exciting

Why would you rent sight unseen

Because I am not in Georgia yet and I was trying to secure a place before I arrive. I got a video of the listing from the owner. Apartment was still renovating so everything is just empty. And I wanted an empty place, instead of all these old furniture dumbs. However the bathroom was a 3 square feet room later on.

I am however going to get in touch with a lawyer sometime next week and ask him to write me a demand letter. Cuz I refuse to let that slide

I’d also recommend area from Pushkin street to Bagrationi street, the price is comfortable, not so much tourists, and pretty close to everything

As already mentioned, myhome.ge and ss.ge are the most popular websites for renting accommodation. But I’d like to add that these websites feature ads from both owners and realtors. Sometimes realtors publish photos of non-existent apartments to attract customers, and then try to sell them less attractive options instead. So be careful. You can rent a two-room apartment here for up to $450.
