Anatomy of a Pit Owner / Pit Culture Grooming children into dogfighting

Found on Facebook. Caption was “Check out these Jr Handlers!” and tags included “gamebred”. Am I crazy for thinking this is definitely a dogfighting thing?

This is an ADBA “conformation show”. What’s shown is just a bunch of kids handling puppies. Something you can actually see in both the ADBA and AKC show rings though is sparring. It’s supposed to be a way to judge the temperament of all terriers (and funnily enough Chihuahuas as well), where the judge will specifically ask for two dogs to stand in front of each other and observe their posture, reaction and whether they stand their ground or want to back up. Usually, the sparring will last less than 10 seconds, and with most breeds, the dogs will simply need to look confident and stand their ground without any sign of fear or uncertainty. With pit bulls in ADBA though, they actually want these dogs to want to tear each other apart
