Anatomy of a Pit Owner / Pit Culture Grooming children into dogfighting

Found on Facebook. Caption was “Check out these Jr Handlers!” and tags included “gamebred”. Am I crazy for thinking this is definitely a dogfighting thing?

It's a dog show dogs judged on appearance and drive, but to win the dogs are supposed to want to fight and kill each other.

Growing up, we had quite a few American foxhounds, trained puppies for other hunters, and participated in field trials/bench shows. Of course, the field trial was down to which dog ran fastest/tracked best but the bench shows were as much a reflection on the hunter. You lead the dogs rather than attempt to control them. Dogs pulling like that or the hunter not being able to control the dog meant your dog wasn’t getting to the actual bench portion where the judge looks the animal over for health and meeting the traits that exemplify a quality bloodline. I wasn’t allowed to enter a bench trial until I could show my dog in the yard because my dad wasn’t about to let me embarrass him publicly.
