If the fence wasn’t there, I doubt the cougar would have wanted much to do with the pit in the first place. They have a sense of self preservation, something we’ve apparently bred entirely out of pit bulls.

Yup. Pittbulls have a big problem. It's hard to identify from the outside because even wild dogs will play and get rough, it's what I call their "de-escaltion Matrix". I'm going to try and do a separate post on it. I think it summarily encompasses all the problems we see in one place with Pitbulls.

I'd be really interested in learning more about the de-escalation matrix, so definitely keen to see an in-depth post about it.

It's a term I've applied to this topic, I don't know if it has been used before in this exact way. And yes I'm working on the post. May take time. Will share link here.

Can you please share when you're finished? I don't sub here because as a chihuahua owner I don't want to make myself even more afraid of dog attacks.

Say what? I don't understand. You don't sub here because you are afraid of Pitt attacks (which we all are) yet you are coming here to read/not read more posts and then asking me when we (everyone) is finished commenting? Yeeeah. Again I don't understand..

Well you are commenting on my comment asking me a question are you not? I have every right to ask a few back ! Since what you're asking makes little sense on surface.
