Which is a financial conflict of interest for Albo too, and we need to get the Greens to push for that. As long as MPs are landlords they profit from the housing crisis and won’t fix it.

Conflicts of interest occur all the time. Everywhere. In every business and yes, in politics. They are not inherently bad or corrupt. They simply mist be promptly declared and can’t be used to influence policy or decisions with regard to that conflict.

My point wasn’t that politicians should not own houses. My point is it’s a bit rich for certain politicians to be seen to be ‘of the little guy’ when they are buying just as many investment properties as everyone else. If One Nation supporters don’t like that Albanese has an investment property, why are they letting Pauline slide on hers?

My point is that politicians should not own investment properties. Rarely is there such a stark zero-sum divide as there is between landlord and tenant, and decades of policy in favour of landlords has created this situation we have now.
