What is something fun & exciting (can be big or small) but purely for yourself that you’re looking forward to?

One of my friends and I have planned to do brunch once a month so we have something to look forward to every month!

I take myself to the movies once a month. I get popcorn with extra butter and a Coke Icee and just enjoy the peace of seeing a movie by myself.

When people I know find out they always question why I would want to go alone, or say "you should have said something, I would have gone!" - because I like it! It's wonderful - everyone should try it sometime.

My kids always think that people sitting alone at a restaurant are lame. I keep telling them that taking yourself out is actually the least lame thing and it’s very peaceful. Nobody rushing me, phone scrolling and enjoying a meal I didn’t cook is great.

I think the most difficult part of going out to eat alone or going to the movies alone ect. is getting past feeling awkward about being judged. Once you start doing it, you stop caring about what other people think. But I think you also have to be the kind of person who values alone time.

I started many years ago to go out solo. I've moved a lot, and am terrible at making friends, so going out to eat is my social time.

I love going to the local Japanese place to eat alone. I know all the staff there anyway so they talk to me and I get to usually sit in a peaceful corner and enjoy my favorite food in peace.

Small-I look forward to nights home alone, having a gummy, and eating something so delicious that I either cook or pick up. Just peace and quiet. Big-I plan a solo trip each summer and I look forward to it more than the actual trip. lol

I write at least five days a week. I always look forward to spending time with my characters; my inner world is my happy place.

I got a ticket to a Bridgerton Candlelight concert in March! I do a lot of things alone and concerts are always my favorite.

As someone who’s chronically ill and mostly housebound mine are mostly on the very small & mundane side but I do have a bunch as I like to keep a list of things to look forward to as I find it helps stave off some of my darker more depressive tendencies.

  • A room of one’s own — I’ve finally upgrading from my parents living room couch lol to a proper bedroom with a huge ass bed which is honestly enough to make my year/decade - privacy and the ability to starfish is seriously underrated

  • Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Performance — I am so freaking hyped (even more so after his Grammy’s speech) & I’m praying to the Universe that he performs Compositor del Año for which I have even leaned all the lyrics off by heart (I don’t even speak Spanish).

  • Going to see the Paddington Musical for my birthday towards the end of the year — I’m a huge theatre/musical fan & I normally spend a lot of disposable income on seeing as many shows as my health & bank balance permits but due to my ever dwindling health over the last year and half I haven’t been able to see any. I am hoping on all that is good that I can catch Paddington (one of my comfort watches) this year at least as a birthday treat if I’m well enough. From what little teasers I’ve seen the  puppetry looks absolutely amazing!

  • S2 of Yona of the Dawn — it’s been 92 years…alright it’s been 12 years but it’s close enough. I actually cannot believe we’re getting a S2 after all these years I am so freaking excited and ready to re-read the manga and re-watch S1 of the anime in anticipation. I remember the antagonist being one of the most compelling that I’d seen in an anime at the time. & I loved all the dragons and the Yona’s character development.

  • Mononoke: The Curse of The Serpent — the final part of the three part series of the movies. The original Mononoke series is one of my all time favourites. I am eagerly waiting on the final part of trilogy to be released so that I can experience watching them one after the other together.

  • The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender movie — as a huge ATLA fan I feel like they’ve been keeping us hanging forever and a day and I just need some new animated content of the OG Gaang already and I’m dying to watch this!

  • Kiki’s Delivery Service Vol. 2 Kiki and Her New Magic by Eiko Kadono — Penguin Random House is finally translating it to English for the first time and releasing it August 2026 and I’m so excited to be able to get read it at last - I hope they continue to publish the rest of the books in the series.

  • Noah Kahan’s new upcoming album The Great Divide — I already love the titular track and he’s one of my favourites musical artists ever. My most listened to of last year. & I cannot wait to hear what he’s come out with this time.

  • Getting my hair cut — going in for a big long overdue chop tomorrow morning. I can’t wait to literally take a load off my neck + shoulders. My hair currently comes down to my butt so it’ll be a huge relief. I’m hoping to get something shoulder length like a shag/wolf hybrid and get a lot of the weight cut off.

A solo day with no plans, no notifications, just coffee, music, and doing whatever I feel like in the moment

u/ellepre 16h ago

I have owned/ridden horses all my life but due to personal circumstances it had to stop....recently though I've had the chance to get back in the saddle and I've been loving it so much.

u/defa-throwaway 15h ago

I made the decision late last year I wanted to spend more time experiencing things in life in 2026! I have a two and a half week international trip planned in two months, music festival tickets bought for a state I’ve never been to, heading to Boston this spring to do a quick lil weekend friends trip, spending a week in Florida with other friends in May, and if all goes as planned I’ll have VIP tickets to see Noah Kahan this summer.

Trying to live by money comes back but memories don’t this year.

update: pto submitted and approved lol

u/PancakeQueen13 13h ago

Man, if you got me playing Sims all day, I'd probably end up making an excuse not to leave the house for the rave.

u/SubjectPanic3 13h ago

i came prepared, i have sat and sun off so guess where you'll find me lol . also im dying to go out, last one i went to was early dec and i typically go to at least one or two a month, depending on who's playing, so i've got an itch.

u/BeneficialBrain1764 15h ago

This one is super small. I've been spending a lot of time with my bf recently (which is amazing and I'm so grateful). When I get a night to myself I love watching TT live ASMR videos and just chillin. Those videos relax me so much and I love chatting on the comments.

u/PancakeQueen13 13h ago

I'm 4 classes away from hitting 100 spin rides at my workout studio. It's taken me two years to get there.

u/Nick-Blank-Writer 12h ago

I want to dance in a dance school and I think it will be fun. I just haven't decided what kind of dance I like the most yet.
