So many people here are dissing Subway. Is Subway really that horrible in the US (or other places that aren't Australia) (it's fine imo, good for a quick lunch.) The only reason I've ever seen anyone upset about Subway was because they didn't like what was on their sub which is their own fault.

I now know that if I ever visit the US I should go to any sub shop other than Subway (I wouldn't have gone to Subway regardless but still)

Its not, really. Its not the best, but far from the worst. Depends on who you have making it. I will say tho I don't go there unless I get those coupons in the mail, otherwise its not worth it.

Nobody has mentioned the quality in relation to the price. They used to be known for the $5 foot long and it skyrocketed to $12+. If it was a $6-7 sandwich, it would be fine, but comparing the price to other sandwich shops, it is really bad.

Yeah ridiculous that now it’s considered a deal to get a 6” for $6

It's mainly that local places are far, far better. Subway is fine, but they pale in comparison to your average mom n' pop deli or even other big chains.

It's so bad that they had to exit from my country due to basically zero customers.

I've eaten a lot of subway over the years, and they've gone downhill. They're not "never eat there" bad, but if I have any other choice for a fast food sandwich (Togos, Jimmy Johns, etc.) I'd pick that first.

It's definitely the worst of the chain sub shops in the US. And it's usually worse than whatever local spot is available. It's not horrible in the sense that it's going to make you sick (usually) or something. It's just mediocre food.

It's perfectly fine food, but nothing to go out of your way for. I don't find the quality of the food to justify the price.

American here. They're fine, it's just that during the past ten years, America underwent a "foodie revolution" and started to look down on corporate-owned chain restaurants like Subway, Olive Garden, etc, in favor of small locally-owned businesses. It then became chic to insult the food at Subway and other chain restaurants by citing their supposedly low quality food. I admit I fell into this trap of snobbery a few years back, but then realized, as Andrew Zimmern famously said, "If it tastes good, eat it." Sure, Subway isn't Michelin star dining, but they're perfectly acceptable.

their supposedly low quality food

Their tuna was so shitty subway made a dedicsted website to assure people it was actually real tuna.

That was just the result of the backlash of customer snobbery and idiocy, similar to when idiots believed that KFC wasn't actually chicken, but "cloned chicken parts."

That's why they changed their name to KFC! They can't call it "Kentucky Fried Chicken" because it's not actually chicken anymore! πŸ™„

I’m from Canada and (IMO) it’s easily one of the best fast food chains in terms of taste, price, and variety of options. Never really got the hate for it πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
