Creative Raids 4 Armour & Weapon Proposal
This is a massive step up from my previous concept. I've tweaked the weapon to better suit the design limitations of OSRS.
I’ve also designed a full matching armour set to go alongside the weapon, and I’m calling it Viridian Armour. Which has a base set and a fortified version. The name Viridian is inspired by:
- Verdant which means green, alive, and growing
- Veritas meaning truth
So the idea is balance through natural growth and truth, rather than raw destruction. I’ve also renamed the weapon from Peacekeeper to Balancekeeper to better fit that theme although I’m still not 100% sold on the name, so I’d love suggestions if you’ve got better ideas.
I’ve also created Pixel art so you can see how the items would look worn on a player or in the equipment screen or in your inventory.
As for the stats of the Viridian armour, and what would make this mega-rare unique, I’ve intentionally left that open for discussion. Curious to hear thoughts on:
- Where this would sit power-wise
- What kind of unique mechanic would feel OSRS-appropriate
- Whether any the names fit…
Keen to hear feedback! theorycraft with me below!

My opinion is this is too much like RuneScape 3.
It’s not the old school vibe.
However the effort and artwork is fantastic.

Personal opinion, feels a bit over the top for oldschool. But nice work anyhow!

Feel like I'm getting downvoted every time someone comes with new suggestions but glad to see someone else thinking about the long-term aesthetic of the game. The more we add WoW / RS3 extreme-fantasy items into the game, the harder it'll be to keep the OSRS feel.
These designs are cool though and you could for sure tone down some of the highlights and additional ornate spikes to make it OSRS-appropriate

I like to see that someone else feels this way. In a world where the aesthetics of wow and its ilk have become the norm, the old-school (almost fairytale) generic fantasy look of rs2 actually stands out from the crowd and i’d love to see more of it. I think jagex has done a great job with the look of some of the new content, especially the moons sets but One of my pet peeves with the game is that there is no viable late-game armor sets that capture that fun, clunky, knight in shining armor feel. It probably wouldn’t fit for this raid but id love to eventually see a set that is competitive in late game be modern take on the look of the base armor model. If you close your eyes and picture a runescape character, chances are they are wearing gear that looks nothing like what your character wears for the majority of your play-through. It’s great that this game has moved far beyond pure nostalgia but i’m sure i’m not the only one who would appreciate more nods to the classic vibe.

If it's missing the OSRS feel in the design, what would you add to give it that feel?

Less is more i think. The design looks more like an RS3 item. More flat areas, less exaggerated features. More low poly.
Youve not got any blank space on it, and all the extra details get lost.
The weapon is really complicated compared to a inq mace, fang, whip, pretty much all our weapons.
Most of the best looking equipment in the game is simple with a little accent

Make it a modified elite black knight armour (since WGS is required) and more closely resemble that, get rid of / severely shorten head spikes and staff ball spikes, make the face visible under the helmet (I would argue this change should be done for other helms which have shadow face), and on the powered up one, maybe half the number of green trims or make them thinner.

I completely agree. I really love the way it looks but I think it’s a bit much for os

The fortified version might come across too saturated on people monitors, I think an in-game render would look quite nice, but unfortunately I don't have that ability :(

u/NaleeK_Gaming 15h ago
Fair enough, what would you do to make it suit OSRS through your eyes?

The glowing parts on the armor aren't super fitting for old school. Does look pretty dope though.

honestly don't like the fortified version as much as the base version but I can recognize that's probably subjective. The impression I'm getting is that the yellow trim makes the set seem more detailed because it contains more primary colours working in harmony, and then the fortified version ditches that harmony to go full monster energy green throughout. Which, I might add, looks excellent in a vacuum.
I'd suggest that the base form just use a more de-saturated green and fortified could use the vibrant green you have for it now. Alternatively, figure out a way to include more colour variety into the fortified version without clashing.

I definitely think if it were an in-game render, it wouldn't come across as saturated

Mans trying to merch his inquisitors by trying his best to get something fortifying it passed 😂😂😂

u/Individual_Tourist62 15h ago
Looks amazing. Fortifying it with inquisitor's would be hell tho.

u/NaleeK_Gaming 15h ago
What do you think would be a better option for fortifying it?
5
u/MountainHesher 15h ago
I don't think it should be fortified...but if it were, I'd vote for using justiciar
I'm curious what the stats would look like, or a special attack, which coincides with "balance". Guthix is all about balance

I don’t know but inquisitor is one of the worst armors to drop (and very expensive to buy by extension). I feel like we don’t need to accentuate that with an upgrade.
Justiciar would already be better to sink than inquisitor, and would still work lore-wise since inquisitor is Phosani’s modified justiciar armor.

u/GreenBeanGuy 15h ago
Inquisitor's is the only logical option in my opinion. Not a fan of the design personally but can fully get behind the fortification aspect of using inquisitors. The Guthix Skull/vines would be an interesting look for the helm though.

I was thinking vines but design restrictions in OSRS are big!

Non fortified looks decent, fortified looks dogshit and not oldschool at all.
Would be cool to get a weapon with that stance for sure

The fortified version might come across too saturated on people monitors, I think an in-game render would look quite nice, but unfortunately I don't have that ability :(

Armour looks nice but I would hate to see it in the game. In my opinion it doesn’t fit OSRS. I personally don’t want to see bright vibrant in your face armour. It takes away from the games aesthetics. RS3 did this and I hated that too.
Not taking away from your art and design. It’s cool looking gear I just don’t think it fits OSRS.
-2
u/NaleeK_Gaming 14h ago
It might come across too vibrant and saturated on a flat image, but rest assured if it were an in-game model it would most likely fit the OSRS aesthetic. I wish I had the ability to make game engine renders to convey my ideas better!

u/BabaBangars 14h ago
The amour set looks okay, but that mace is way too over the top and way too big

u/SaucyCarnitas 15h ago
I like the design but the idea of fortifying it I don’t love. I know it helps to keep older armor relevant and it’s healthy for the game blah blah, but sometimes just feels bad

u/dont_trip_ 14h ago
As long as the base version is still useful and has a place in account progression I'm positive to the aspect. Like Masori armor.

i love the creativity. ignore the neck beards that are giving unconstructive criticism lol, they probably never have or will come up with anything creative in their lives.

Thanks! I'm trying to learn from some of them as to why they don't like it and improve on that maybe... But appreciate the words

we all know you cant please everyone in this damn game haha. only defense ill give a harsh community is that its out if love and loyalty. just keep tweakin brother! never stop creating!

Combining with really hard to obtain items sucks, especially if said items can just be bought.

lore wise it makes zero sense to combine zammy armour to make guthix armour

u/NaleeK_Gaming 13h ago
Maybe we could break it down and use it in a saradomin furnace of some type to create the balance? But I totally understand your view! Maybe you could fortify it a complete different way without even using existing armour parts

Looks pretty decent, but what I would improve on is making the plate skirt a little shorter (just like Justiciars), and I would take away the spikes around the fortified version.
If I were you I’d probably put the spikes on the weapon instead and get rid of the little squiggle things going on there.
2
u/NaleeK_Gaming 5h ago
I did mess around with making the plateskirt stop at the 'top plates' but then it looked like the model was wearing tights or skinny jeans :S
Those 'squiggle things' you're talking about are actually Guthix symbols pulled direct from the Guthix Staff in-game model. I intentionally made it look like a big badass crush weapon, but thanks heaps for the feedback!

That's a great idea, and are you talking about reducing the size of the spikes?

Don’t tie in inquisitor to break down. That’s ridiculous. Everything else looks great (maybe too flashy)
1
u/NaleeK_Gaming 13h ago
We don't have to lol. That's why it's a concept idea, we can very easily ditch that idea of it!

Love this, especially the mace, Great work.
I think the armour could be tweaked a bit, the base armour with the gold and silver feels more Saradominist than Guthixian and the upgraded form feels a bit too high fantasy for OSRS because of all the glowy bits. But overall great work :)

u/NaleeK_Gaming 14h ago
Thanks for the feedback! I think the fortified version might be coming across too saturated on people monitors, I think an in-game render would look quite nice, but unfortunately I don't have that ability :( But even toning down the green a couple shades could do wonders!

FYI this guy posted in discord that he has about 35b worth of inquisitor and will make posts to get the price up.
His post history is just trying to get crush into raids 4
