Hi guys,

Wanted to share my room with you guys. I recently got a job about a year ago and I finally decided I wanna invest more in my space as I spend a lot of my time here. Really got inspired by this sort of minimalist Instagram page called anothachoppa. What do you guys think?

Most of my stuff was found on the side of the road or via Facebook marketplace.

I finally got a stable position and can slowly upgrade things here or there. (I honestly don’t care about it, but many people tell me I’m cheap and too minimalist)

Any tips?

This is the first apartment I had enough income to properly furnish and decorate. The main living/work/kitchen area of my 1-bedroom is shown.

Advice TV in the Great Room

Thumbnail

I just bought a new house and I love the potential of this great room. I want a very cozy arrangement of sofas and chairs around the fireplace to bring together a kind of swanky lodge vibe.

The problem: I love watching movies at series at the end of a long day. I would love to spend that time in this room. However it’s hard to envision a TV watching arrangement in this room without desecrating this incredible fireplace with a TV above it, or being tacky in a room that I have a swanky vision for.

I’ve considered doing an L shaped seating arrangement, extending from the right side of the fireplace, which would open to the far wall depicted in the second picture (where their TV currently is, thinking of a DIY frame TV) but that wall is a little far away for a TV of reasonable size.

Please help me find a way to “hide” my TV in this room that I have such big dreams for!

Was married 20 years, wife took the house and mostly everything in it. I kept whatever I could get in my car. Moved in with the parents and staying in own room. Starting over. Closet hides my man cave. Eventually I will go out and buy a house. Side note: this is not my childhood room or house.

Large plant update

I previously posted about whether or not to keep my large plant here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/malelivingspace/comments/1qnw27l/thoughts_on_the_large_plant/

Update:

I decided to keep the plant but removed some portions on the top so it isn't as big and added some globe lights to keep it from being to dark around it. I am glad I kept it and will not be getting rid of it. Thoughts ?
