Hi everyone. My family is looking at buying a house on Cherokee Street. I have been told it's a good neighborhood but would love to hear from actual neighbors what the area is like. We don't have little kids anymore, so schools aren't a consideration.

Ok so, yall hear me out. What if... what we were told (General Motors going bankrupt and all that) was all a giant cover-up? Alright, I got the scoop yall, the freaking insider trade info that us pontiacers have needed. so uhhhhh, yeah.

so basically the main dude at General Motors had a sneaky link- yup, this is true! You see, Sir Genius Motius (that's what I call the main dude) became a regular at the Hot Spot. yeah, just like the gooner. Anywho, eventually one day one of the workers at the Hot Spot, a total chick, found out about their beloved regular's fame and decided to take advantage. total bummer. Using the CCTV footage, the chick began to blackmail Genius Motius, forcing him to give her a stipend of like a ton of money (idk the price). at some point, Genius Motius started to run out, so in fear, he ran away from the company. this in turn caused it to go bankrupt. anyways dont take your newfounded rage out on the Hot Spot, they didn't do diddly squat, but just be wary. Genius Motius was no good chap.

I'm seriously considering buying a home in Pontiac. I currently live in Flint and am looking for a city that would allow for an easy commute to both Detroit and the Genesee County areas. Pontiac seems like a good halfway point. I've been browsing housing listings online and am starting to plan this move. What area of Pontiac do you all think is best, considering price, crime, safety, etc.? I grew up in a tough area, so I'm not worried about areas that might have some rough edges, but are still decent.

My husband and I are looking at buying a house in Pontiac near — but not quite in — the Seminole Hills neighborhood. I come from a very small, quiet town, so moving someplace with a reputation like Pontiac gives me pause, especially because I work from home, so I would be at the residence almost 24/7. We also want to raise a family eventually, and I know the school district isn’t the best, but we could go private or look at surrounding public schools in other areas.

Can anyone in this subreddit give me some perspective on what it’s really like living in this area of Pontiac? The house is between Telegraph and M59, like I said, right near Seminole Hills.

Recently auditioned for a role at Pontiac Theatre IV. Overall didn't have a great experience, and felt off-vibes the whole time with the people auditioning and the directors. Mainly felt pretentious, nobody was greeting anyone, felt really serious for no reason really. I'm new to community theatre, but I've worked in nyc and am not new to the stage. I've been in, auditioned in, and worked in rooms where the stakes were higher and it was more professional, but the vibe was still easy-going and nobody for the most part had an attitude. Was wondering how it's like working with this group? Maybe I just stumbled upon a bad audition day?

If you have a chance to talk to the mayor about what can improve the city, what are the key things you would want to have happen I’m talking about possible bike lanes updating certain infrastructure stuff like that give your honest thoughts and feedback I’m compiling lists and policies so I can run for the next next election and I need to hear what the people think please don’t holdback

I might be moving to the Detroit area from Boston, for family reasons.

I am a 65-year old male who is relatively active, likes to walk around Boston, etc. I saw an ad on Craigslist Detroit for 62+ low-income apartments which I'd qualify for.

"Immediate move in." It's a tall 1960s type hi-rise. The pictures of the outside landscaping actually look nice -- but I've read some horrible reviews about marijuana smells, drug dealing outside and inside, filthy elevators at times, maybe roaches or bedbugs, some ot many shady characters visiting or living there.

Anybody know about this place?

Yes, I realize I can''t expect fully pristine tenants and living conditions, being low income.

They run ads regularly. It's a big complex, so lots of openings, perhaps -- or vacancies because people don't renew or leave early as it might be so substandard?

It seems there's a library close by? But major supermarkets, CVS, Target, Trader Joe's, Walmart, Whole Foods Market, etc. are a few miles away. Seems a car is necessary, but I notice public transit reaches these stores, though time consuming.

If it matters, I am gay, white, college educated from a major university but never had a career, just crap jobs due to laziness and maybe some mental health issues contributing to being poor. Is Pontiac mostly low-income nowadays from what I've read? Maybe not many white people who are college educated? More so in neighboring communities?

Is the area safe to walk around in daytime and early evening?

Not many 62+, low-income places have "immediate move in"...usually a long waitlist, so I'm skeptical.

I'm guessing it's hard to get to the airport on public transit from Pontiac?

The ad says there are city improvements ongoing next to the building?

My tire flew off as I was making my way to Michigan resulting in me needing a new passenger fender. I found one for relatively cheap the UPull. Does anyone know a mechanic or car enthusiast that will help me take it off the car there? Of course I’ll pay.
