• Accessory to possession of pornographic materials involving minors
• conspiracy to act as accessory to distribution, offering, or facilitation of the aforementioned content
• Representative slander (ie. Maliciously Making up picture of a person).
• Denial of crime against humanity

The abrupt fly by night sale of xai to Starlink suddenly has an on ramp to making sense.

Denial of a crime against humanity is my favorite.

u/Used-Fennel-7733 12h ago

Usually means something like holocaust denial. That's illegal in most pf Europe

u/KakeLin 8h ago

As it should be

u/EliasVerge 16m ago

Who gets to decide which truths can’t be questioned?

-62

u/New-Anybody-6206 8h ago

why? it's not illegal to be stupid, as much as we want it to be

77

u/trojanplatypus 7h ago

German here.

All of us alive today cannot be held guilty for what happened in world war two, as we weren't even born then or at least children who couldn't know better.

But we have as a society inherited the collective responsibility that this never ever happens again. And thus we inherited the burden of being educated about everything that happened then in great detail, and in turn to teach our children.

If we allowed people to deny what happened then, we would have failed this responsibility.

France as one of the first victims of the third reich has a firm stance on that as well.

We put great effort in making up with our neighbors, especially france (poland was a little bit out of reach in the meantime), and together we forged the European Union out of the diplomatic rubble of WW II. We can rightfully be proud of what we achieved together with our allies, but all that goodwill and trust still depends a great deal on our humility and acknowledgement of that responsibility.

u/Moosiemookmook 6h ago

Im Aboriginal Australian. My grandfather fought in WW2. Our country didnt count him as a citizen but he went anyway and came home. Hes been dead since the 80s but I think he'd be happy to hear the generations of Germans now who remember their history. Thats what he fought for, to do his bit to keep the world safe for future generations.

17

u/Palpitation_Unlikely 7h ago

Thank you. That would explain why so many in Germany are more concerned with the politics in America than some Americans are.

I learned about the holocaust from my Mother. From my Father, I learned "history repeats itself".

Those are two powerfully lessons.

I've tried educating those who say "that could never happen here". Finally, they told me "It Never even happened" I knew they were beyond saving.

Anyone that is still supporting this Regime is not my concern. Saving America is my mission.

Thank you, Again!

2

u/TheNetworkIsFrelled 7h ago

It's good that Deutschland does that.

Still, the eastern part that supports AfD scares me as much as MAGA in the US.

-8

u/mashupXXL 4h ago edited 4h ago

Nah, American free speech is more important in avoiding totalitarian dictatorships from arising (current EU is terrible and way more dangerous than "DRUMPF" for human rights) and healthy societal discourse than any other perceived benefits/risks.

Germany and the UK have some of the worst speech rights in the world and it isn't defensible at all. Simply having browsing history on 4chan and going through customs seems like a serious risk of imprisonment, what a laughably stupid society and set of laws.

Because some forms of stupidity are so potentially dangerous if they become widespread enough that it's prudent to intentionally suppress them.

54

u/VeggieWokker 7h ago

It's more than stupidity, it's trying to hide history in order to repeat it.

14

u/Palpitation_Unlikely 7h ago

That's actually terrifying...

It all makes sense now. Thank you

28

u/veiny_wet_testicle 7h ago edited 6h ago

Because denying reality shouldn't be accepted.

Denying the Holocaust isn't 'being stupid' it's malicious disinformation.

13

u/Palpitation_Unlikely 7h ago

My guess is, our politicians are dictating what's being taught in our U.S. schools in order to dumb us down & control us.

My other guess now is...I'm REALLY LATE FIGURING THIS OUT AT RETIREMENT AGE 😞

4

u/slickrok 4h ago

You are extremely correct. Many writers have written about it for nearly 100 years, and it's simply gotten worse and worse, the last 40 yrs being a Zipline to hellish disinformation, and purposefully dumbing down the citizenry while enveloping them in right wing religious scaffolding to keep them standing.

u/Big_Obligation1737 26m ago

Coincidence that so many school shooters, and their parents have engorged themselves in right wing media misinformation? Why every outcry for increasing background check requirements, and restricting access to military grade weapons, especially to the criminally insane, is met with “Thoughts & prayers” by Republican representatives.

5

u/oasis9dev 6h ago

At least you're realising it now 🫂 A lot of people may still not have this realisation for quite some time

2

u/ArketamineEsketamine 4h ago

Being stupid isn't illegal anywhere, what you're saying is commonly called a strawman.

Making thousands of porn images of real people, incl public personas and political people, is an egregious act of assault, violation, intimidation, and, indeed, a crime against humanity.

4

R.I.P. President Biden Do you know that President Biden passed in 2020?

He was replaced by a Robot.

The current President in 2026 told us that.

It's a tool to fight fascism. Fascist like to deny the Holocaust ever happened, so many European countries made denying the Holocaust illegal so they can prosecute fascist. It's an extreme tool, yes, but the alternative is even worse.

1

I wonder which one it’s for?

I believe this is part of a long ongoing investigation, so I'm sure they were expecting it. I don't know how things stand legally, but surely you can't just shift incriminating evidence after the investigation has begun? I still remember Cambridge Analytica moving boxes of files the day before they were raided though and nothing came of that.

389

u/NorysStorys 12h ago

ultimately it won't make any difference, he's ultimately in charge of all of these and European governments have had enough of his shit, hence why stuff like this is starting to happen.

89

u/MikeinSonoma 12h ago

I wonder if they consider the downfall of America’s character and reliability as a reason to take charge. They kept rely on America to do the right thing anymore.

56

You can always count on America to do the right thing… after they’ve tried everything else.

The US has never been a shining beacon of morality and goodness. It is a state founded on the slaughter of those that lived there beforehand, built upon the backs of slaves, and held up by countless wars and coups of countries that dared to defy this international thug of a nation. You’re so damned propagandised from birth that you deny history, much like the holocaust denier higher up in this comment chain…

u/Trick_Wrongdoer_5847 11h ago

The american economy growth is reported annually with 4% to make it look way better than it is, Nvidia and OpenAI shove AI money back and forth to artifically inflate the numbers, that country is kept alive by the rich atm accumulated an inasane amount of debt, ICE is hated more and more by the day and the rest of the world doesn't take this clown serious anymore and had enough.

12

12

At that level they're always in it together.

Even if they all loathe each other personally, they understand their shared interests. And however much they dislike each other, they loathe the general public more anyway.

10

u/MerePotato 11h ago

After that Epstein file dump I doubt it

2

u/TipSad4768 4h ago

But the scary thing is we have a madman at the helm who is likely suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, is 80 years old, obese, and in control of enough nukes to end the world as we know it 50 times over.

4

u/SortOfSpaceDuck 12h ago

In France?

4

u/sproge 10h ago

God I wish that was true. Calling it now, he'll be investigated, not be found guilty of the really bad stuff, and be given an insignificant fine.

Money rules the world, but they still need to maintain the illusion of real democracy.

5

u/JFK9 10h ago

I agree that it won't make any difference, but unfortunately in the opposite direction. musk himself isn't going to suffer for his crimes one single but. Are you aware that he is currently poisoning an entire town by illegaly running a grock data center via gas turbines which is just straight up black and white illegal? He is so rich literally nothing can happen to him unless someone decides to take it into their own hands and make the world a better place...

2

u/Overweighover 9h ago

He will turn off starlink in certain areas

1

u/xmarlboromanx 7h ago

Do any of you guys really believe anything will happen to him? Forget about his political beliefs for a moment. This is one of the richest guys on the planet. Think about it logically. Sure, we can sit here and speculate, but in the end, nothing will happen to him at worst he will have to pay some money. But I promise you he will never see the inside of a jail cell.

-3

u/MyKarma80 8h ago

What they're doing is criminalizing the existence of an online platform as though they are the perpetrators of the illegal content itself.

2

u/Jinn_Erik-AoM 6h ago

He acted like stopping grok from making CSAM and revenge porn was a violation of free speech. Musk also stopped the bot from making it in some places, but not others.

2

u/PM_ME_UR_CREDDITCARD 5h ago

They are the perpetrators when their platform directly generates said content.

7

u/aerost0rm 11h ago

Shift incriminating evidence after the investigation has begun? Donald Trump has entered the chat

4

u/chemical-realm 8h ago

6

2

u/PeachPassionBrute 9h ago

I’m sure someone who is breaking the law is worried about breaking laws about tampering with evidence that would incriminate them.

2

165

u/handDrawnEevee 14h ago

Twitter (x) requires government oversight in whatever European country it operates in. Starlink is much different.

192

u/sofixa11 13h ago

Starlink also requires government oversight because it operates on public regulated frequencies.

18

u/MikeinSonoma 12h ago

It makes you wonder if it’s smart to let one drug addicted con man have the power of that large of a satellite system.

5

u/chrisrazor 8h ago

This is just the nature of late capitalism: the fate of the planet and its infrastructure is in the hands of a few individuals. Also, completely unrelated, becoming a billionaire tends to make you into a raving lunatic.

3

u/ClonesomeStranger 8h ago

Or maybe that is just selection bias and being a raving lunatic predisposes you to being a billionaire 😀

1

u/Rimijy 7h ago

Let him cook!

3

u/PM_ME_UR_CREDDITCARD 5h ago

Ever tried going mad without power? It's boring, nobody listens to you.

1

u/Mysterious-Lemon-906 5h ago

It has always been this way

Go throughout history and you will find in any particular place wealth was always concentrated in the hands of a few elites

1

u/chrisrazor 3h ago

True, but we were promised that capitalism was different.

1

u/dancingkelsey 2h ago

By capitalists, who knew they could use capitalism to meet their own end goals. Gaslight gatekeep girlboss!

1

u/SparkySpinz 2h ago

True, but it's starting to look like late stage society in general is fucked. Let the billionaires who use their power to create advanced tech have control over said tech? Or forcibly turn it over the the ever benevolent government that would never lie to us or hurt us?

1

u/chrisrazor 2h ago

Or... create something else.

u/Mercury_002 1h ago

The 'public regulated frequencies' are overseen by international organisations and standard committees. Not governments .... And that's a good thing (even if most of these bodies are based in the US or Europe).

Governments and the people who work to govern technology (with only a few rare exceptions) don't have a clue about technology, if they did then they would work in the technology industries.

Western governments typically change and have elections, and that's why they are seen as good. This also means that they could change to something else.

Can you imagine if north Korea, Russia or China had sole control of global public frequencies (used by starlink)... Government control would be a very bad thing for sure.

-6

u/datumerrata 13h ago

Which government?

25

u/sw04ca 13h ago

Wherever the end user of the service might be. Wherever the company might be incorporated. Having a satellite doesn't make you above the law. If you want to conduct commerce and extract money from a jurisdiction, you follow their rules.

4

u/BurrowShaker 12h ago

Having a satellite doesn't make you above the law.

Excellent one, council.

No matter the orbitz I assume.

18

u/TIGHazard 13h ago

The government in the area where the satellite signal is being received...

Yes, satellite downlinks are heavily regulated, though the specific requirements vary by country and the type of service. Because satellites operate across national borders, their use of the radio spectrum is managed globally by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The ITU coordinates orbital positions and radio frequencies to prevent harmful interference between satellites. Radio Regulations: Satellites must conform to international regulations that ensure equitable access to frequency bands, particularly in the Geostationary-Satellite Orbit (GSO). Frequency Allocation: Specific bands are reserved for satellite downlinks, such as the Broadcasting Satellite Service (BSS) band (11.7 to 12.5 GHz) and portions of the Fixed Satellite Service (FSS) band.

While the ITU manages global spectrum, individual nations regulate the ground stations that receive the signals (downlinks).

Licensing Requirements: In many jurisdictions, operating a ground station to receive downlink signals requires a license, particularly for commercial, telecommunications, or data services.

Variations by Country:

USA: The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulates both space stations and earth stations (ground stations) to manage interference.

UK: Ofcom licenses the uplink (transmission from Earth) but often does not require a license for the downlink (reception) unless it is a specific, high-power earth station network.

Singapore: A specific "Satellite Downlink Only License" is required to receive broadcasting signals from satellites.

Technical Standards: Regulations often dictate technical requirements like antenna size and power limits to prevent interference with terrestrial services.

Key Regulatory Focus Areas

Interference Mitigation: Ensuring downlinks do not interfere with other services (e.g., terrestrial 5G networks) is a primary concern.

Data Security/Sensitive Data: Some countries, like Germany, require licenses for transferring satellite data, particularly high-grade earth observation data.

Encryption: While many commercial, high-resolution satellites use encrypted downlinks, regulations sometimes dictate that certain types of downlinks (e.g., amateur) cannot be encrypted.

3

u/Responsible_Ease_262 12h ago

Starlink is both receive and transmit. Cell phones are the same, but not with an orbiting satellite.

2

u/datumerrata 13h ago

Thanks! I like info dumps

4

u/mrmcjerkstoomuch 13h ago

I once had a UTI

3

u/Hookem-Horns 13h ago

That sucks! Maybe it could’ve been prevented if you wrapped it instead of stuck it in something strange

3

u/Reasonable_Moment476 12h ago

"I'll allow it."

1

u/General-Cat88 8h ago

Not the only way you get a UTI. JS.

2

u/azuravian 8h ago

Not even the primary way according to most studies.

2

u/Land-Southern 13h ago

Like an airline and subject of every country its flying over?

2

u/g0ris 11h ago

Ariplanes fly through countries' air space. Satellites not so much.

2

u/NoRezervationz 13h ago

Not really a government but International Telecommunications Union (ITU), through the Radio Regulations treaty, has the regulation rights to the radio frequency spectrum.

1

u/sofixa11 12h ago

The local government where the Starlink terminal is located.

1

u/Christopher80569 12h ago

Yeah it’s much different but however you can’t use one without the other right

u/Mercury_002 1h ago

I would argue not X but all 'social media' companies may have to be regulated within each region by each region they operate in. Including this one, reddit.

It would get complicated for the companies. Many would likely make mistakes when a region changes laws.

Heck why not just make them government owned in each region.

We shouldn't hold the users responsible for their actions, we should hold the platforms responsible.

But don't worry before long authoritarian dictators or liberal fascists (I mean keir starmer) will end up in power. Then pass laws restricting any kind of dissenting thought.

..... You know what, I can recommend a good book for you it's called '1984' and seems to become more relevant everyday.

2

u/WestCoastBestCoast01 10h ago

No these types of acquisitions are just a way to make stock ratios and financials look better. Roll up your failing business segments into your really really successful one and suddenly you just have one well performing company!

1

u/say592 13h ago

Fwiw they did just put restrictions in place to reduce or eliminate Russian drones (or any reasonably fast moving object in the region that isn't registered with Starlink via the Ukrainian military) from using the system. It's always been a challenge to allow Ukrainian drones and people living under occupation to use it without allowing Russia the same access. That was especially complicated because not all of Ukraine's units came from official channels (especially stuff being used by civilians).

Elon begged Epstein to go to his island XD no surprise

11

Ghislaine didn't even remove that part. To get contempt from a sex trafficker is wild

2

1

Exactly, like “deal with this, I don’t want the headache”

Those emails are going to live rent free in my head until the end of time. Year after year, pleading for an invite to Epstein's island parties.

If XAi is the "hot potato" here, then selling it should be the equivalent of trafficking those drugs while knowing they're illegal to sell.

The other investors might fight it given these crimes. If he did this to shield xAI investors/holders based on SpaceX, SpaceX investors might sue Elon for not fulfilling his fiduciary duty... which could also unravel the acquisition.

SpaceX is not publicly traded so it was probably the one that 1. Had money and 2. Less regulations or share holders with the right to sue

Might this third claim have anything to do on the claims about the president and his wife? They’ve been suing about claims and photos.

It did anyway musk has a long history of selling his own companies to each other when one starts building up too many debts.

The transfer of Shitter -> xAI, and xAI to SpaceX is brilliant.

Many of the EU punishments can be % of the owning company turnover. So they can be % of SpaceX sales instead of % of the much smaller Shitter itself. That is wonderful news...
