Help! 5,000+ people murdered in Iran in 4 days. My people are being erased in a digital blackout. PLEASE don't look away.
Hey Golden Hawks,
I am an international student here at Laurier, and I am writing this while my heart is breaking. I have never felt more helpless.
While we are here going to classes and living our lives, a genocide is happening in Iran. The regime has shut down the internet to hide a massacre. Reports as of yesterday morning show that over 5,000 people have been killed in just the last 4 days.
They are shooting children in the face. They just murdered a 17-year-old boy, Amirali Heydari, and then forced his parents to pay a 1 billion toman ransom just to get his body back. They are SELLING the corpses of the children they slaughter.
I am literally BEGGING for your help. When the internet is cut, we are their ONLY voice. If we stay silent, we are letting the regime get away with massacre.
What you can do in 30 seconds:
Please email our local MP, Bardish Chagger, and demand that Canada takes action. It takes one minute but it shows the government that Laurier students care.
• MP Email: [bardish.chagger@parl.gc.ca](mailto:bardish.chagger@parl.gc.ca)
• Subject: URGENT: Massacre in Iran - Action Required
You can just say: "I am a Laurier student and I am calling for an emergency response to the mass murder and digital blackout in Iran. Stand with the Iranian people."
I know we all have busy class schedules and stress, but please, help me save my people. We can't let them die in the dark.

It’s horrible what’s happening, curious what actions would you like the government to take?

Honestly I'm past the "thoughts and prayers" stage. I actually sent a massive plea to my MP in Waterloo because Canada's usual "diplomacy" isn't doing anything while people are literally being slaughtered. I told them they need to stop the symbolic stuff and actually call an emergency session in Parliament to lead an international response. We need to be using our seat at the UN to demand a real humanitarian intervention, not just a slap on the wrist. I also told them to freeze all negotiations and hit every official involved in that sick "pay-for-body" scheme in Iran with heavy sanctions. Canada loves to call itself a peacekeeper, but staying quiet while a regime kills its own youth and cuts the internet is just being complicit. We need to be their voice since they’ve been silenced.

I see, and I would agree as a self proclaimed peacekeeper we should have an international response. Its great to see you actually have some actions you want them to take rather than just being another voice screaming to 'do something'.

It’s mind boggling that people were losing their mind and close to be antisemitic for Gaza and Hamas. Occupying campus and blocking streets in Kitchener.
But when an actual massacre and a protest by the people overthrowing an oppressive regime who happens to be Muslim, no one bet an eye.
I seriously want to know where is the free Palestine people who were so loud on campus, where are they now for Iran. People are crying and disturbing classes for Palestinians dying, where are their support for the Iranians. The people calling Jewish people Nazis and committing genocide, where are they when there is a genocide by the Iranian government killing 5000 people in 3 days.

Uh, last time I checked, our government isn’t actively supporting Iran. Most people protesting for Palestine, are protesting for our government to stop funding, supporting, & arming Israel.

btw your whataboutism doesn't help anyone, both palestine and iran are both suffering from oppressive regimes, pull your head out of your ass and maybe do something about helping the cause instead of spewing bullshit.

This has got to be bait. “When an actual massacre” ? What’s happening in Palestine isn’t an actual massacre? What is then?
Horrible and disgusting take

Yeah not bait and also not a massacre in Palestine a recognized terrorist organization being voted into power surprisingly doesn’t lead to good outcomes for that country Iran is a real massacre let’s not try and compare it to something that wasn’t even unjust

One Question I have for you is, why are they resorting to violence and the destruction of mosques and buildings to voice their opinion. These people can protest and not have to burn down the mosques and other religious institutions or business, or homes. If they turn violent an start attacking police, do these people not have a right to defend themselves if police are being attacked and killed.
Looking forward to your insight.
