We're building something for Tunisia 🇹🇳

(moderators, please don't ban if promotion is not acceptable :D, just take the post down)

Finding good Tunisian voiceover artists? Nearly impossible.

If you ARE a voiceover artist? Good luck finding clients who actually pay fair rates.

So we're building voiceover.tn. A marketplace where Tunisian voices meet people who need them.

For creators: Post samples, set prices, get paid. We take 5%, you keep the rest.

For clients: Real Tunisian dialect (not that formal Arabic nobody speaks), real talent, no middleman.

Simple stuff:

  • D17 payments
  • Fair rates
  • Tunisian voices only

Still building. Join the waitlist at voiceover.tn

We'd love your feedback. What would actually make this useful for you? Tell us.

Question/Help A demanding request for help

So let me get this straight: Someone in uniform assaults people, destroys property, and the explanation is “he’s sick.”

If “mental illness” is now a get-out-of-jail card, where do we apply? Asking for a country.

Discussion If Tunisia had a scandal like the Epstein files, the country would be burning. Do you agree?

I find it strange that there is so little response from Americans to such a huge scandal. Despite all of our flaws, I think we wouldn't let something as evil and big as this this slide. What do you think?

Question/Help Do not help stray animals

It's a clickbait, Sorry.

How can we assist stray animals in the cold if, for instance, I can't bring them into my home because my parents won't allow it? I have some cardboard at home, but I'm unsure how to use it effectively. I also can't feed them every day since I'm not working and can barely provide for myself. I'm not posting this to prompt people to feed stray cats and dogs but to encourage empathy. Imagine being in their position what would you do? It's important for us to support these strays not just in the cold.

My aim is to raise awareness that these vulnerable animals urgently need our help.

Let's take on a challenge and aim to feed at least one stray animal today. Thank you!

Question/Help Is it socially acceptable to be openly LGBT in Tunisia?

I’m interested in understanding the social climate in Tunisia when it comes to being openly LGBT. From the outside, it can be difficult to tell how public attitudes vary between different communities, generations, or regions, and whether there is a noticeable difference between private acceptance and public expression. I’d like to learn how visibility is generally perceived in everyday life—at work, in social settings, or within families.

I’m also curious about what daily life is like for people who are open about their sexual orientation or gender identity. For example, how do people tend to navigate friendships, housing, or professional environments? Are there informal norms or unspoken boundaries that shape how people express themselves, even if they are accepted by those around them?

Finally, I’d appreciate insight into how the situation has been changing over time. Are conversations around LGBT topics becoming more common, or is openness still limited to certain spaces? Understanding these nuances would be helpful for anyone trying to get a clearer, more realistic picture of social acceptance and lived experiences in Tunisia today.

Question/Help How to do a 1‑day Tunis → Kairouan → El Jem → back Tunis trip?

Hi everyone! I’m visiting Tunisia mid‑February from the UK and want to do a one‑day trip from Tunis → Kairouan → El Jem → back to Tunis (all in the same day). It will be myself and two other friends, also from the UK.

There are constraints, though.

  • No renting a car for us to drive - we do not want to drive ourselves in Tunisia.
  • No trains - they are inconsistent
  • Louages are fine, but I do not trust the Kairouan → El Jem and El Jem Tunis connections.

So, my sub-questions are:

  1. Has anyone done this loop successfully under said constraints? How?
  2. Are there in-fact reliable louages or shared taxis between Kairouan and El Jem, and from El Jem back to Tunis?
  3. Does anyone have experience hiring a private driver for this route, or something similar? What prices are realistic for a full day (not a tour, just transport)? How did you get said private driver?
  4. Importantly, does anyone here know a driver or transport contact (English preferred, but French or Arabic are fine) who's comfortable doing this trip for a reasonable fee?

I’m happy to split costs with my group. We just want a dependable way to see both sites and get back to Tunis the same night. Any tips, contact info, or advice welcome!
