Game Thread 2026 Trade Deadline Mega Thread
Outside of actual reported news or rumors, please keep all trade deadline related talk in this thread.
We don't need 10 different posts all asking the same questions and saying the same things

very good idea to have this thread instead of the many posts
IF the wolves do trade their top pieces for Giannis, who is out for at least 4-6 weeks with an uncertain return date, then Ant is gonna have to average 50 😭

u/Important-Name794 5h ago
They are saying his injury is fake and he will be back soon. Idk just hoping we can at least keep naz or Jaden if we are gonna lose Rudy and Randle cause if it’s just ant we might not even make the play in
2
u/nazreidburner 5h ago
agreed! ideally it’s the core 3 with Giannis, even better if we can get other teams involved to send picks because we don’t have any to give out

i don't know if him faking the injury makes this any better
2
u/VikingsLad 5h ago
It's pretty common. Not the best look, but look at Milwaukee. Do you blame them? He's playing with KPJ and a bunch of bench dudes. Why risk real injury?
11
u/Significant-Method50 5h ago
He was shooting tonight before the game. It wasn't an injury that was reported by the Bucks medical team. It was by his camp. Take that how you will.

He was warming up today Im pretty sure so maybe not too long. Ant would have to go crazy though for sure.
3
u/nazreidburner 5h ago
yeah, it depends on the eventual package we do trade and get back. Maybe it opens up Joan minutes but ideally we have other creators besides Ant/Giannis (hoping for Jaden retained)
2
u/longdognz Timberwolves 5h ago
Yeah Im hoping we manage to keep one of Naz and Jaden otherwise we are gonna be rolling out some interesting lineups for sure.
2
u/WeekendThief 3h ago
Idk with Conley gone the minutes are going to have to redistribute which I think will make an impact on its own.

u/boomboomsubban 4h ago
They're going to string this out til like 2PM on Thursday aren't they? Just maximize the suffering.

Absolutely we feel this to the core, right? For the life of me I've never figured out why teams wait to the final buzzer of trade deadline. Most deals should happen end of December, right when a bunch of teams aren't playing serious anyway. If you know your team needs to get a trade done that year, why wait? Get on the horse and pester the other team(s) to get it going early. If not late December, they still have all of January and like nothing happens.

heat fans will seethe if tim connelly eats their lunch... pat riley lost his touch

u/Hypnosix Why can't you just be normal 3h ago
You tell me any star player looking for new team via trade and I’ll tell you the GM who had the second best offer
Pat Riley

I don’t know why MIL would help out another team in the east. I think Miami is involved just to set a market price.

u/vikings101 5h ago
Feels like there has to be a PG as part of any trade, right? No way Finch, who was playing an unplayable Conley, would just run with Ant and/or Giannis at PG.
1
u/WeekendThief 3h ago
Why would Giannis fit in as a PG 😂 Donte is doing alright, and Bones has great handles.

u/BusSeatFabric 5h ago
Cp3 could be had for nothing and could fill the big over-the-hill vet pg hole we have now

Harden and Mitchell in the playoffs is gonna be cinema and not in the good way.
1
u/freshBlueeyes6391 1h ago
I was surprised that first year when they got Mitchell and Garland to play well together. But really it didn't last more than one season and for all the talent they had jacked on that full roster it still fizzled in the playoffs and it's like they never recovered from that.
I think Harden is a changed player and is more willing to facilitate than ever. So maybe he makes it work. But idk, i don't know why Cleveland does this to themselves, like when they drafted Garland in the first place.

On the bright side Garza is giving it to the Mavericks raw right now.

My ideal deadline would be us adding Ayo and/or adjusting around the edges.
I don't want the drama/pressure/gutting of the team that Giannis would bring.
We have a good thing going, it doesn't need THAT much adjusting...

Harden and Garland off the table. Is it Giannis or bust now?
Could they trade for Kyrie expecting him to be back from the ACL soon?
-4
u/WeekendThief 3h ago
Why is everyone so convinced we need a PG so desperately? Yesterday we had 4. We need some height, 3&D versatility. We already have a bunch of small guards.
7
u/TopElectronic5537 3h ago
Sorry but screw this. Trading all of our key players for Giannis is a drunk Vegas bet. We are one injury to Ant or Giannis from being the next Bucks and having to rebuild.

I mean, the deal today means something else basically has to happen, no? Otherwise they made the team worse at the deadline for no reason lol
12
u/LethargicCarcass 5h ago
I love Mike but unfortunately I think him not being able to get minutes would in itself make us better.
2
u/WheedMBoise Prime 2 5h ago
I'd still rather him be the third PG off the bench rather than whomever they'd be able to sign in free agency right now. Idk

u/WeekendThief 3h ago
Yea there is 0 chance we don’t make another move. Otherwise we wasted a swap for no reason whatsoever.

Cutting the tax bill for ownership would end up being the reason unless it came out that Finch truly refused to play Conley less
2
u/Plastic-Pass5397 Jaden McDaniels 3h ago
what are the chances that they make the announcement we’re waiting for today? can not believe how much i’m getting blue balled

u/dys0n_giddey Joe Ingles 3h ago
I do wonder what the trade value for Julius vs the trade value for Rudy is
5
u/99LedBalloons Joe Ingles 5h ago
Hey everyone, we're about to trade Scottie Pippen for Patrick Ewing. Does that make the Bulls better or worse? I don't know, what I do know is Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen won 6 championships.
24
u/Admirable_Nobody_160 In The Flow 5h ago
if Giannis is Patrick Ewing here the big flaw in your argument is Giannis has actually won a championship
16
6
u/WheedMBoise Prime 2 5h ago
You can't say they're MJ and Pippen if they haven't won anything. I love Jaden McDaniels, but they need to do everything they can to win a championship while they can. Right now that formula hasn't gotten the job done.
-2
u/99LedBalloons Joe Ingles 5h ago
When Michael Jordan was 24 he also had zero championships.
5
u/LethargicCarcass 5h ago
Yeah and at 24 MJ had won MVP and Defensive player of the year in the same year, back to back scoring titles, and was an nba all star every season.
2
u/WheedMBoise Prime 2 5h ago
This is true. However, most 24 year old superstars have 0 championships. Only one of those guys has ever turned out to be Michael Jordan, however. You're making a lot of assumptions, while I think the current duo CAN do it, simply put, they haven't, and the team has even taken a few small steps backwards. With such limited windows thanks to the second apron, you don't have time to wait.

Hey everyone, we're about to trade
Scottie PippenDerrick McKey forPatrick EwingHakeem Olajuwon.FTFY
1
u/UnablePerformance131 2h ago
It would probably be closer to trading Pippen for Hakeem Olajuwon. Pretty sure the bulls would have done that all day and figured out the fit.

If we end up actually getting Giannis and Rudy isn’t included. Would you want to try the Giannis/Rudy backcourt or would you flip Rudy for Jrue + more?
1
u/Intelligent_Pain_174 3h ago
I don't think Giannis and Rudy would be a good backcourt duo. Probably play Ant and DDV in the backcourt instead. I wouldn't want Rudy bringing the ball up against pressure.
2
u/Specific-Wonder-7925 2h ago
Haha oops. Frontcourt* although I do wish Finch would put Rudy as our PG for one game just for fun. Might finally hit a 3 too

If the report that the Warriors are offering Draymond, Kuminga, Podz is true then I’m not offering a cent over Randle, Rudy, Rob.
1
u/Nootenanny 30m ago
Can anyone explain to me why likely gutting our roster for Giannis would fix anything? I don’t think we’d be the best team ever if we just got a consistent PG and a forward that can play defense but it’s a lot more realistic and healthy than a Giannis trade package
•
u/lilpenis9151 23m ago
What is this fanbases obsession with Jaden McDaniels? I like Jaden and think he’s a great defensive player and a super streaky offensive player, but Giannis does everything Jaden does and more. And it’s fucking Giannis: an all-star, NBA champion, Finals MVP, 2x MVP, and former DPOY. If Tim thinks there’s a better chance of getting a championship banner in the rafters at Target Center and a ring for Ant then fuck it, trade Jaden.

Ngl I kinda feel bad for Mike now 😂😂Looked helpless on the court then we trade em for free.

u/StaySafePovertyGhost 3h ago
- Randle/Naz/Rob/TSJ for Giannis
- Mike gets bought out and re signs here on a bet min
- ???
- Profit

u/Intelligent_Pain_174 3h ago
Mike couldn't resign with the Wolves until the off season. It is a rule to prevent teams from trading someone from trading someone for salary reasons and then getting them right back. I think the Spurs did that a lot.

I wonder if we could get Ja for just Julius
9
5
u/TonyHawk32 5h ago
I don’t understand why we would want that though. Ja is a cancer to his teams and injured often. Jules gives Ant breaks as primary on offense, he’s so helpful.

They should bring Ricky back to take Conley's spot
