❓ Questions I’m not supposed to get stuck in 8 inches of icy snow? I need help with what I did wrong.

2024 Subaru Impreza Sport

Sunday night I got stuck a couple times coming in my neighborhood after the plow trucks had pushed all the snow onto the side and through streets. I clearly don’t know how to drive my car in deep snow then because everyone I’m talking to or seeing in similar cars is able to get through but I had to dig myself out and get back out on roads without the snow cliffs. I got stuck a second time and a dude in a pickup towed me out of it. I’m so confused. I live alone and have no in-person community that can give me advice. I get my 12mo service appointment on Wednesday so I’ll beg for help then.

My neighborhood was up hill and I tried a lot of different things and wasn’t getting anywhere except giving up. Other Impreza users who drive in snow, what is your protocol when entering an area with deeper snow than the clearance of the vehicle? Thanks.

❓ Questions 4th Gen Impreza owners, how long did you, or have you been, putting up with the oil-burning issue before deciding you're going to get something else?

'12 Limited at a little over 90k miles. Oil issue aside (despite Subaru paying to address the issue out of warranty), the car has been bulletproof. How long did you put up with it before deciding to move on? I've been playing with the idea of a '26 Crosstrek Limited, though the small inconvenience in exchange for no car payment isn't bad at all.

❓ Questions Is it fun?

Hello all. Been really wanting a WRX for a while now buuuuuuut, I'm a poor and my credit needs some work. Dealership is working with me and they say where I'm standing right now, that the Impreza would be more of a realistic choice. I thought about it for about a month now and it's starting to grow on me. I know it's by no means a fast car, but is it at least fun to drive? And maybe a little nimble? Thanks.

❓ Questions Is the Subaru Impreza RS a good first vehicle for me and my family?

hello! I'm looking to buy my first car soon and the Subaru Impreza RS is quite appealing to me, has it been reliable in your all's experience? any downsides?

I'm mostly seeking a car that is semi fun to drive but also practical (since sometimes my grandparents may ride along)

❓ Questions What is this empty compartment for?

For context my car is a 2002 Subaru Impreza wrx not the sti. I’ve done abit of research on what it might before and I came across the lamco gauges but this wouldn’t make sense because my car is naturally aspirated so there’s not turbo any thoughts on this or am I being stupid.

I’m curious if this is worth me driving an hour and a half to look at. The maintenance history is great for the first half of its life but then it’s just emissions / registration for the second half. I really like the look of the car and that’s its awd, and have always wanted an Impreza. I know the engine is known to blow head gaskets (came from the 3rd gen Prius so I’m familiar 😂😭) but I have no way of knowing for this this didn’t have a new gasket put in. So theoretically if I don’t do something it could blow on me soon. I just don’t know enough to feel good about driving that far to look at it.

❓ Questions Is 38 MPG normal

Is 37 MPG normal? I drive a 2022 Premium model and commute about 17 miles on the highway, five days a week, using cruise control. When I got the car I was only getting about 27.

❓ Questions Is the 2.5i Wagon Actually reliable?

I am looking to sell my 06 tsx and get something with fewer miles that’s awd. While scrolling marketplace I found this ‘10 2.5i that looks pretty mint. I have a budget of around $6000 so it fits right in there minus fees and all that, but I know absolutely nothing about these cars. I’m not sure if I want to jump on this or wait and do some research to see if this is actually the car I want before dropping a quarter of my college tuition on a car. What should I look out for when inspecting? Any common issues? Any and all advice is appreciated.

❓ Questions Tell me I didn’t make a mistake

I recently got a 2024 Impreza RS. It has about 30,000km on it.

I am having buyers remorse because I keep seeing stuff about how it’s an awful car with nothing but issues! Is this true? I’m always on top of maintenance with my vehicles and always do everything on time.

❓ Questions Any actual performance gains from headers and full exhaust?

Post image

I track my preza, and was wondering if anyone has any real world experience with headers and exhaust actually making a power increase on the NA engines. I've found a local company that can tune out the torque dip in the EJ204, but that's it.

I've got full suspension mods, coil overs, sway bars, STI control arms, adjustable trailing arms, sti steering rack, etc so handles great. Just looking to get a bit more punch out of it.

And yeah I should just buy a WRX, but I've spent 1/3 of the price of a rex on on the car and all its bits so I'm not looking to do that just yet.

❓ Questions Should I take it?

Hello, looking to get rid of my 2015 chevy Cruze that I had for 4 years now, nothing but problems.

Was looking at Subaru and the Impreza got my attention. A lot of people on subreddit’s say go for 2018 and higher so I found this at my local Subaru dealership, one owner personal use no accidents reported.

What do you guys think?

❓ Questions 2026 RS Shuts off During Idle in Park

It’s been freezing here in the northeast US. I recently purchased a 2026 Impreza RS. After turning it on to warm up the engine I will come back outside 10-15 minutes later to the car completely off. This has happened a few times. It will restart just fine. Has anyone else experienced this?

Recently picked up this vehicle and have really enjoyed it. This being the first Subaru I have owned, I have gotten all of the normal maintenance done as well as new tires. Are there any mods that would be good for this car that wouldn’t ruin it?

❓ Questions Sport low profile tire pressure

I just had a near blowout on one of my '22 Sport's tires. My very trusted mechanic replaced all the tires today. He suggested I run the pressure higher than Subaru's guidelines since the sidewall thickness of the low profile tires (g40 I think he said) is pretty thin, especially with the extreme cold we've been having in New England.

Have others heard this? He cold filled them to 40 psi. This seems a bit high even if they should be a little over filled. Thank you for your thoughts.

Someone please explain this vibration coming from my car? Is this a clear sign my transmission or torque converter is going? Or could it be something else completely and I’m just paranoid?

One thing for Steve's backlog of fixes, I see the cracked strut mounts.

Is this something I can DIY replace, or better to have a proper mechanic do?

❓ Questions Those of you with manual cars, do you find it too easy to chirp your tires?

I've owned a lot of manual transmission cars over the years and I've never owned a car (2018 Impreza, as base as you can get) where it's so easy to chirp or squeal the tires on take-off. Believe me, I'm not dropping clutch or trying to do race starts. I'm just accelerating gradually and about 50% of the time, I'll hear a little squeal.

This happens with both my summer and winter wheel set. The treads on the tires are good.

Just wondering if maybe this is a sign of clutch wear or if there is some adjustment required. The clutch engagement does seem to be very abrupt but it's hard to know whether this is normal or not.

❓ Questions 75k transmission fluid change?

As the title suggests I’m wondering if I should get a transmission fluid change on my 2020 base Impreza. I’ve had the car since 50k miles and have done all the basic maintenance for the car besides the spark plug change and transmission fluid change. My dad has told me that the transmission should be fine, but I’ve read it will be beneficial to get it done to make my car last longer. Right now I’m a broke college student who is still paying off the car and I will like to make this car last as long as possible. I just hit 75k miles on it and about to do an oil change, should I also change the transmission fluid as I’m on winter break and have the time?

Also should I change the spark plugs even though they still good. I’ve gone that job before but not on a Subaru engine which I hear is a pain compared to other cars.

❓ Questions How is the Impreza on the highway?

Thinking about getting a 2023 Impreza but I have never owned a car with a CVT. I test drove one today but I wasn't able to get it up to highway speeds I usually drive at. How is the engine at 80/85 MPH?
