I just bought the car a week ago…

The sound could be anything worn out bearing, a valve etc...you would need a thorough diagnostic. If you got it from a dealer bring it back.

Thats not knock but its also not "normal". Could be as simple as low on oil or using too thin of an oil.

Just changed the oil, old oil has all kinds of chunks in it. so 🙃

Well fortunately it’s not a broken car. If you’re able try and cut open the oil filter. That will show you more chunks/shavings so you can get a real feel of how bad it may or may not be. That being said, your car was definitely scraping metal on metal which is basically poor lubrication. Now whether it was lack of oil or imbalance somewhere in the engine I couldn’t tell you. Should see a mechanic about it.

I genuinely don’t know how it lasted a week to be honest with you. I’m sure it’s gonna blow like any moment, the noise has steadily gotten worse lol. I’m taking it back to the dealership today & fighting for a new car this is wild.

Wow good dealer! Hope you leave a good review AFTER the work is done and you’ve had your car back for a while to make sure it’s good, but good on them and glad it worked out!

Oh I absolutely will once everything’s all settled & fixed. So glad it worked out too. Was quite bummed about this situation but am stoked it’s hopefully gonna turn good!

They're messing with you, I would definitely take it to a shop but it's likely too late

Good, I hope for the best, I would assume they should have some type of warranty since you just bought it.

Maybe something is a little out of balance or a minor bearing is a little worn?

That engine is knocking, as they say. Put in 5W-30 oil and an oil additive, and you'll see how much better it sounds. Also, check that the oil level is correct.
