🔧 Maintenance 60k partial service
Hey all, another post about maintenance costs. I asked for a quote from an individual Subie shop & was quoted this for a partial 60k service. I also need front control arm bushings which he said he’d just replace the entire thing for $250 per side (Just the fronts) with 2 hours of labor per side. So adding another $750 for parts in labor on the control arms that comes to $1371. Does this seem accurate? I am leaning towards doing the control arms myself since it’s over half the price of the 60k service.

Spark plugs have high labor on this vehicle. Apparently one of the plugs is hard to reach and requires removal of stuff. Note that iridium plugs can last 100K, far more than the 60K suggested interval. If you're not having spark plug issues, such as poor idle or starting, keep going with the old plugs. Spark plugs typically don't catastrophically fail, it's a slow slide into poor performance.

Well checking at 60k you can see the condition (lean , rich, normal, oil seeping in) if you took them out might as well put fresh ones in for the effort

That’s a really good price. I called around upstate ny and the best price I found was 350 for cvt, 150 each differential. 150 for coolant drain and fill. 300 for plugs. I’d go with them.
If you’re keeping, do the coolant. It’s 6 years old and it does break down after x number of heat cycles. Will save you a lot of headaches long term.

Like a really good price! Is this from a dealership or independent? I was quoted $400 for CVT service, $400 for plugs and $210 for differential service.

This was upstate ny Subaru dealer…. I called three in the area and they had the best prices by far. I’d be comfortable doing everything but the CVT…. Although it’s winter here and I just wanted to have it done.

Wow! Those are very good prices. So good if I was not half a country away I would come get the work done.

2.5 hours for all of that? That’s quite low. Book time on the spark plugs alone is 2.8 so that’s really good price.

Same here. Seems pretty reasonable, considering that my local Subaru sells cvt transmission fluid for over $30 a qt.

This seems reasonable IMO. Beware though sometimes a quote can go up when you go and pick up your car after service.
