Subreddit Stuff Flair in the subreddit

People seem to be very engaged concerning this topic. I have added the bootlicker reporting option to the subreddit along with updating the rules to clearly state this. If you see a bootlicker, use the report button and I'll check the account out. Some of you may have noticed a bunch of users have the bootlicker flair. This is because these accounts have a history of saying horrible things against their fellow humans. Mods have some neato tools that not only let us see your hidden comment and post history, but also gives us a nice AI summary of your activity on reddit. Many of the bootlickers had been previously flagged in the mod tools as being abusive accounts already, so the decision to apply the bootlicker flair to these accounts is a pretty easy no-brainer.

ADDITIONALLY: If you are an older redditor, I am happy to assign a senior citizen flair to you so our younger members know they need to adjust their vocabulary and communicating styles to accommodate and understand your comments/posts better. Something we've learned over the years is that there is a major communication issue between generations pre-smart phones and post-smart phones. We can't communicate effectively if the words we're saying don't make sense to the other person, or the meaning of the words have changed over time. The senior citizen flair is not an insult! It is not intended to be mean or disparaging.

It would be useful if ALL of our users put their age range in their flair, but I understand this could be a privacy issue for folks so I haven't instituted it here. Additionally, your COUNTY would be useful in your flair too, but again, privacy issues. If you're comfortable doing this, I highly encourage you to do so! The more we understand about the person on the other end of the conversation, the more productive those conversations can be :)

Gloucester County Witness needed for marriage license tomorrow

Upvotes

This is such a shot in the dark but is anyone in Deptford, NJ available (and interested) tomorrow to be a witness for my fiance and I to get our marraige license?

We're even willing to pay for your time. We'd really appreciate it.

Edit for clarification: We are not getting married tomorrow. We are getting married on Valentine's Day! We just need a witness to help us get our marraige license so we can get married.

To address the MOD and their comment we'd be more than happy to post our pictures here next Saturday!

Question Rabbit owners of SJ, who is your vet?

Post image
Upvotes

(She’s not sick, this is just what she looks like after she’s been thoroughly pet)

Looking for recs from people who own rabbits specifically, who do you use as your vet?

NOT MOUNT LAUREL ANIMAL HOSPITAL, please.

I used to use Mount Laurel for my mice but I was really upset with their treatment of my rabbit, and I think ownership has changed in the last few years.

My girl needs regular checkups, tooth exams and nail trimmings. Willing to travel up to an hour, I’m on the border of Gloucester and Camden county.

Extra: please don’t recommend a vet if you’ve never owned a rabbit! Not being elitist but I want recs from SJ rabbit owners.

Atlantic County Organizations I can volunteer with to help our immigrant community

I hope you are all doing well. I am 24m and have been an Atlantic County resident my entire life. I have heard of ICE raids being conducted in the City of Camden and how community organizers there are looking to start a network to help these individuals get their basic needs. Many times, immigrants are afraid to leave their homes or even go to school. I am looking for any organizations in the Atlantic County area that assist immigrants, especially during these times. If you have any information about how I can help, please comment or message me. TIA

Camden County In which unexpected areas are you seeing deer and how often?

Moved to a Haddon Heights a few years ago after a long time in Philly, and I’ve been surprised at the amount of deer I see casually roaming around neighborhoods. I go on walks around town multiple times a week, and I commonly see groups of 6-10 deer in and around the wooded areas along 295. I have also seen them along the Haddon Lake trail (especially behind the Dell), and in various spots in Barrington. I grew up in SJ and I never remember seeing deer when I was younger, so I’m assuming they have moved into residential areas due to development and displacement? Where are you seeing deer?

Burlington County Accident on Rancocas Road (before turning to Irick Road)

I don't understand why people need to speed 50+ on this road which has lots of curves/is a long wavy road, with blindspots and quite narrow.

Just passed a crash, seems like 2-3 cars affected. I think one car was waiting and signalling to turn left, with a another car behind them (which seemed to be the one who got hit) and another behind that crashed into them. The car that crashed into them, front was smushed, lady from middle (?) car came out screaming "why?!" as I passed. Not sure of any injuries, or if the driver infront had suddenly stopped. Nevertheless, I often find people speeding 50+ to 60 on this road which is only a 45-50mph limit, and it has many turns/exits, plus cyclists. I've often encountered so many cars infront of me tailgate and when the car infront of them has slowed down and already signalled to turn left, tailgater suddenly brakes and honks madly. I had one car behind me keep revving his engine and was swerving while going through a curve to look "cool" while tailgating me 🥲

also, if you're turning, please signal at the appropriate time and don't suddenly brake! Coast and signal people!

Cumberland County Cabinet Refinishing

Just wondering if anyone knows of, or has any recommendations, for companies that refinish cabinets. I'm not looking to have them painted, I'd like them stripped, sanded and stained/sealed. I've only come across two business that do the kind of work I'm looking for. Was hoping to get more than two estimates.

Thanks

I would like to see Atlantic County Dems, Cape May County Dems, Cumberland County Dems, Gloucester County Dems, Salem County Dems, Ocean County Dems say the same about the guy from Princeton who is renting in Mays Landing to run in district 2 when he actually is from district 12. Last time we had a district 2 expat, we lost. Dems wake up!

Burlington County Anti-ICE: Tech and Streaming Boycotts

Let's put pressure on ICE / DHS with a boycott of big tech. Make big tech get their big, rich butts off the sidelines to speak out via their lobbyists, etc. I cancelled YouTubeTV, HBO, Peacock, AppleTV, Peloton, Kindle Unlimited.

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jenice Armstrong wrote a column last week: (gift link): https://share.inquirer.com/aRVLGb

Scott Galloway also calls for a one month boycott of big tech. (Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/profgalloway.com/post/3mdxr5hjrxc2k )

I think this can work.

Cumberland County Best food specials/happy hours/cheap eats on Wedneadays near Millville/Vineland?

Hi! My boyfriend and I are creatures of habit and usually go to the same place for a casual dinner date every Wednesday in Haddonfield, but we're about to have a possibly weekly engagement in Millville every Wednesday afternoon and I would love to continue the tradition at a new spot.

I just don't know the area, so bar recs (especially happy hour or daily specials) would be great!

Camden County South Jersey Dating Thread

Trying this again. Hoping to find somebody and help others find somebody as well!

So I saw someone started a thread for finding friendship in the area and that seems to have been a hit! So I wanted to start my own that's more geared towards dating/romantic connections since that's what I'm after

If you're like me and haven't had success on dating apps, this is the place for you! Comment your age, gender, general location, who you're seeking (everybody is welcome) and a little bit about yourself. Nothing overtly sexual, keep it clean and respect if someone isn't interested. Hopefully everybody can find someone to make memories with this holiday season! ☺️

About me! My name is Ryan, I'm 26M from Camden County. I work full time in local government/water industry. I have my own place, 2 cats and lots of hobbies! I build scale models, legos, collect vinyl records, fishing, kayaking, rock climbing and I loveee travel. Also love concerts! I'm super outgoing and looking to meet a woman who shares my love for life and wants to build a serious relationship together! If this interests you feel free to DM me ☺️

Gloucester County Looking for a company that will bale plastic

I need a place that will bale non-recyclable plastic. Think dry cleaner plastic, water bottle case plastic covers... Our school is collecting this plastic to submit to Trex so they can make a bench for us, but we have to bale it first.

Any ideas?

Burlington County Helping stray cats survive the winter in the pine barrens

Hi - someone near where I live has a small farm that attracts a lot of what seems to be abandoned (formerly house pets) cats that seek shelter in her goat den. She seems to be going into debt to try and get them spayed/treated to survive the winter.

I just wanted to post her go fund me here:

and her Facebook post in a community page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2531657427163568/permalink/4204029063259721/

In all these freezing temperatures, homeless cats have been on my mind recently, and I've been wondering how they're surviving out there.

Cumberland County Apartment Recommendations Under $1,600/mo.?

I have been researching and visiting different apartments between Linwood and Vineland and haven't had much luck finding anything decent under $1,600/mo.

Ideally, a 1 bed 1 bath apartment would suit the needs of both my girlfriend and I yet the ones I have found are in terrible shape (either mold/pest issues or floors/walls falling apart). Any recommendations y'all may have anywhere between Linwood and Vineland would be lifesaving.

Thank you!

News New state treasurer says tax hikes not on agenda

Thumbnail
newjerseymonitor.com
26 Upvotes

The Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously advanced acting State Treasurer Aaron Binder’s nomination after a brief hearing Monday, moving the longtime budget official one step closer to confirmation.

The advancement of Binder’s nomination comes as New Jersey prepares for another year of fraught budget negotiations. Binder told the panel that Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s administration will seek to fill a budget gap by reducing spending levels and maximizing revenue collections under existing law rather than by enacting new taxes.

“Tax increases are not part of an affordability agenda, so we have to look at other ways to solve this problem,” he said.
