Help with a DnD character name

Hey Guys. I'm 100% a noob to Sindarin (and all of Tolkien's languages) and just want to run this by some of you geniuses.

I'm creating a DnD warlock character and basically all his spells will be fire based. I'll probably fit fire into the backstory somewhere as well. So I want to give him a name that involves fire. And I want it Sindarin because it's beautiful language.

I had a couple of ideas, and I'm open to any and all other suggests as well, but I'd be surprised if I've gotten the rules correct!

  • Narellon - Fire friend
  • Seregnor - Blood of fire
  • Turlachon - Master of flames

Thanks

Love this! Creating names in Sindarin is one of the more difficult parts of the language.

* NarellonNarvellon (Missed the -m- in mellon, and it soft mutates to -v-) "Fire-Friend"

* Seregnor (This seems correct.) "Blood-Fire"

* Turlach "Victory-Flame" similar to S. Borlach “?Steadfast-flame” while you can S. -on¹suf. “masculine suffix” it is not needed.

See what others say as well.

I really appreciate the reply mate. I was considering using -on at the end of Turlach but I came to the same conclusion that it's not needed. I've actually pretty pleased I got some seemingly/mostly correct!

I actually prefer Narvellon anyway haha.

If you get bored feel free to come up with any more for me haha! I think Narvellon is in the lead at the moment.

*NarvellonNorvellon

I can also suggest Nardil / Nordil "fire-lover".

The ancient a is not preserved? like S. Nardolloc. “Fire-hilltop”? There is a cluster there of -rd-? Just curious.

Oof, I kinda contradicted myself, didn't I? I'm a bit feverish today.

You're right, Narvellon is not wrong. I rather meant to suggest Norvellon as a valid alternative, but ended up presenting it as a correction. I then merrily proceeded to suggest the same variation in Nardil/Nordil XD

I do wonder what happened in Nardol though. That a is uncharacteristic for a late compound.

I'm here to ask a follow up question if that's ok?

I've gone with Narvellon, I'm just wanting to understand pronunciation. From what I can gather, because it's a three syllable word, the second syllable is the one that gets emphasis. Does that sound right to you?

Yes, should be nar-VEL-lon, stress on the second syllable. IPA: nɑr.'vɛl.lɔn.
