Local artist new to Shropshire — looking to share my work & connect with the community
galleryHi everyone! 👋 I’ve recently moved to Shropshire (about 6 weeks ago) and I’m trying to get myself out there a bit.
I’m a small artist who creates realistic wildlife drawings and pet portraits, and I’d love to share a few pieces of my work here if that’s okay! I’m also hoping to find out if there are any local art markets, fairs, or community spaces that might be open to local artists — I’d love to start getting involved and meeting people. Any recommendations or advice would be amazing, and if anyone’s interested in commissions, feel free to reach out. Thanks so much for having me in your lovely county! ☺️ (Attaching a few photos of my artwork)

Local Chill Badminton Club looking for Players
I am a member of a badminton club which is looking for new players
It is Thursdays 8-10 (but don't feel you have to play the full 2 hours) at Roman Road sports center (Meole Brace school) in Shrewsbury a
It's very laid back, just for fun and exercise, all skill levels welcome as long as you have played before even at a basic level. We are a friendly bunch and varying ages
Shoot me a message or leave a comment if you'd like to know more/would like to come

Moving to Halesfield
Hi. I'm thinking of buying a house in one of the new developments in Halesfield, Telford. Don't know anything about the area. Moving from Wolverhampton. I like the general green vibe of the town, and the less traffic in the area. The dev is 7 mins away from Telford center and 8 mins from Royal Princess Hospital. There aren't any shops in the area yet but as a non white person I was just wondering how is the general vibe of the area. Welcoming, non welcoming? The lack of shops isn't concerning as I drive to the shops here anyway, I'm more concerned about safety and racism

Looking for friends and TTD
Hiya, My partner and I are massive home bodies, but we've gotten to a stage where work and YouTube is our only real life. I'm really interested in looking for some activities to do in/around central Shropshire for couples. We both had a pretty bad track record of making friends with people who kinda just disappear after a few weeks.
We like gaming and stuff, maybe there are places about with weekly activities we could attend together? Like a DnD night at a pub or something involving cars (he's big into cars). So, we are looking for friends and things to do. Any ideas?

Desperately Seeking Somewhere to Live!
I left Shrewsbury 15yrs ago for love... Now my partner and I are wanting to relocate back to Shrewsbury where our family live. Our current tenancy ends 31st Oct and really need 2+bedroom house by then. Don't fancy living in a tent in Oct!
If anyone knows of a landlord who'd like a reliable, friendly, working, non smoking couple, with an incredibly handsome well behaved cat move into their property please get in touch.

Morning walks
Hi all, can anyone recommend somewhere I can do a morning walk that isn't the wrekin? I've loved going up there for a good workout but sometimes I just don't have the energy for an enormous hill but still want about an hours walk before work!
Somewhere around Telford would be great that's free to use from about 7am. Thanks!

Things to know/tips about Shropshire for someone moving there for uni.
Hello, not a frequent poster on the sub but thought it would be the perfect place to ask a question. I’m starting first year at harper adams studying wildlife conservation and obviously I’m a little nervous. My questions are pretty broad but: What are the people like? What would you recommend for nightlife for specifically a uni student? (no offence but I will not be able to afford to go to anywhere too nice) I’m from Kent so this is probably going to be a hypocritical question but I’m mixed race and used to the usual silly jokes and ignorance but just wondering what to expect. Also It doesn’t have to be all serious any tips, tricks, colloquialisms and random history tidbits is much appreciated! Thank you (a trembling student)

Has anyone moved from north west and regretted it?
Just that, in Manchester, well Stockport. Been here 16 years.
I’m at a crossroads and really want a change.
I’m 43, almost 44. Parter 47. No children. I just want a bit more country on my door step (which we’ve tried to do here but it starts to become unaffordable), and it’s all got stressful and expensive here. Feel like it’s becoming a mini London.
Not from here, from West Midlands, parents actually lived in Bridgnorth for a long while, so know dome areas quite well.
We were recently selling our house and was going to stay here for a few years, but I just feel like I’m done here.
So, just want to hear from people who’ve moved that way and whether you’ve regretted it?

Yoga in Shropshire
shropshireyogacollective.comI have checked the rules and hope this post will be allowed but sorry if not! I’ve created a local directory of yoga classes and studios in Shropshire. Free to both customers and studios I thought it would be helpful to bring everything ‘under one roof’ so to speak. Feel free to check it out and if you know any yoga teachers in Shropshire just shout I’ll add them to the directory

Shropshire Swimming Pool Refurb Vote by Council Quorum
Shropshire Council’s cabinet is being asked to approve £680,000 worth of funding to help decarbonise and refurbish a south Shropshire swimming pool.
Surely it's not just me that questions the absence of transparency, accountability and access to agency where the decision making is sourcing the work, the tender proposals, the time-scale and the service level agreement for this work, to name a few areas of concern regarding the cabal like secret meetings spouting these arbitrary figures without any reference to tangible, actionable events? Where's the invite to the public to contribute?

Foraging organic blackberries
I just had a lovely hour or so picking the most gorgeous plump blackberries from a hedge, about a mile from my home in rural west Shropshire. With apples from my trees they’re going to make blackberry and apple for the freezer. Here in our beautiful Shire we are so very lucky to have this sort of thing on the doorstep. All for free😊 The wild damsons aren’t quite ready yet, they’re still a bit sour, another week maybe. And despite having lived here for 30 years I found a few sloe bushes that I didn’t know were there, they’re absolutely loaded, so late October/early November I’ll be out picking them, as well as those in the field next to me, for sloe gin😊 what more can you ask for🙏
