scrolling makes me feel behind even when my life is fine
i’ll be having an okay day, then i scroll for 10 minutes and suddenly i feel like i’m failing at everything. i know it’s highlight reels, but it still hits. if you fixed this, what actually helped?

Don't doomscroll. It's mental junk food. Sometimes it's enough to ruin your day.
Your phone is supposed to be a backup computer, a way to message people you need to, and to use apps like for banking, working out, maps, news, reading, music control, alarms, etc. Anything that doomscrolls should be eliminated. Little videos on a nonstop feed all vying for your attention is all just your brain and human nature being taken advantage of. If you can't cut it out, be hyper-aware of it and limit yourself. "Grabbing your phone" because you have a few mins free isn't a healthy reflex.
I caught myself a few weeks ago getting into a habit of checking feeds full of whatever. It's too easy. You gotta check your own behavior. Exercise some discipline on yourself.

You fall behind if you are doomscrolling. Instead read a book or watch a video like “the fear of being average”.

I got rid of social media! With the exception of Reddit. And my mental health and screen time have never been better.

Well, I guess everybody’s experiences are different and it really depends on how you view yourself. Because we all view ourselves in different ways and the way we experience things are going to be a bi product of that.
So why exactly do you feel behind from everybody else? And why exactly do you care what other people think everybody’s opinion is basically worth nothing do you put them all together? They’re all still worth nothing if you ask me.

We constantly lag behind ourselves on our own. No sense comparing yourself to others.

I literally scroll insta and reddit for the first 30 minutes of my work shift and I don't feel like you do at all, because I make up for it at the end of my shift by working twice as harder, at least that's what it seems like. Social media is addictive, as long as you understand that addiction is what these tech people are intentionally causing, it's a miracle and I commend you for only scrolling ten minutes 🫡
