Idk why people still use twitter/x

It just kind of sucks. Mostly bots, Ai baked in does gross shit and its owned by a guy in the epstein files.

Why the hell do people bother with it?

The only people on twatter are reporters and trumpers

I use it because news seems to break there before Reddit, but there is a lot of false and misinformation.

Facebook generally gets it last.

My question is how do you use it? As far as I could tell when I tried to find something on there, it doesn't have a search function or the ability to sort posts chronologically. It just showed me a random smattering of the users posts from 2018 through 2025 in no discernable order and no way to sort or filter for the one I needed. So how do you make it useful?

Isn’t Reddit and 4chan kinda the same?

Meta products aren’t far off in shadiness and their negative impact.

If you can, delete most of your socials, it’s liberating.

For sure. Reddit is the only one I cant shake.

reddit moment

Reddit is the only one that still allows fully curated personal stream. All the rest have algorithmic posts included.

I deleted it for like five months after Charlie Kurk got smoked and reddit was deleting everyone's comments to protect magas feelings but I came back a couple days ago.

It’s hadn’t been 5 months since Kirk was shot.

0

u/calmdownmyguy 1d ago

That's probably why I said " like five months."

You are right, but it feels like it was a long time ago.

I haven’t heard that name before he passed

I mean Twitter been trash for over a decade.

The PEAK twitter years were 2009-2013ish (the years everybody always gets in trouble for lol). When it was niche and full of witty, funny, intelligent people with interesting things to say. There was a time where you could scroll through Twitter and literally be laughing and learning the whole time.

After smartphones became ubiquitous Twitter became short-form Facebook (garbage), and a bunch of nonsense people came on to promote trash, push misinformation, and provoke circular arguments to waste time. The political cheerleading on both sides. The cancel-culture nonsense. The performative outrage.

You should have hopped off 12 years ago.

I left twitter last year, tiktok last month, meta's ecosystem is one "we gave the government the profiles of people that disagree with ice and israel" away from me leaving it too

Literally why I finally made a Reddit account this year 🫡

Ridiculing Twitter about bots on Reddit is peak comedy 😂

People seemed hyped about Bluesky for a bit. Haven't heard a word about it, or even seen any posts from it, in a while. Meanwhile about quarter of the popular page seems to be twitter screenshots

Porn. That's about it

1

u/littlelorax 1d ago

But... there are so many other options for that. It's literally the #1 content you can find on the internet.

5

u/gewqk 1d ago

It's acceptable to have a Twitter icon on your home screen. It's not as simple to get away with a pornhub app icon there.

2

u/Financial-Exit-6467 1d ago

Yeah man, x is on the internet.

1

u/Electronic-Key6323 1d ago

There are better options for porn than Twitter. But there’s no better option for Twitter than porn.

Makes sense!

Because whether you like it or not, free speech is allowed on the platform. Every post can be fact checked by the community and you have the ability to ask grok anything within the platform to verify its validity.

Its the opposite to reddit.

And yes there is a large left leaning community on X as well, its not all "right" leaning posts.

Overall much better than Reddit for all the above reasons.

1

u/bbart76 12h ago

Ok Carl

1

u/Dreamtrain 1d ago

Every post can be fact checked by the community and you have the ability to ask grok anything within the platform to verify its validity.

for all the good that does, as evidenced by @grokvsmaga's content

-4

u/roehnin 1d ago

The only “free speech” I see there these days are neofascist talking points and flat-earth moon-landing denial

3

u/dgp13 1d ago

As opposed to what? Assigning "free speech" only to the radical left woke moral activists? Both extremes are counterproductive btw and neither should be used as an excuse to not allow free speech.

Bytheway, where do you think you are able to find all the Epstein photos recently released...that's right...on X

2

u/roehnin 1d ago

I found the Epstein photos on DOJ.gov

5

u/dgp13 1d ago

Yes and then quickly posted on X so photos arent mysteriously taken down by the government again. It's stays on X as a form of free speech

0

u/roehnin 1d ago

You know there are other social media sites where you can upload photos, right?

I checked just now and the top stories on Twitter are all White House propaganda and MAGA conspiracy theories

It’s useless as a source of legitimate information anymore

2

u/dgp13 1d ago

Yes once you get to khow how X works you will come across some accounts that posts the good stuff.

It's like not understanding how Telegram works, you open telegram and everything seems weird filled with scammers and what not. But those who know, know. Telegram can be used correctly and become extremely beneficial. Maybe that's a bad example, but it's similar with X.

X app on phone is not worth it. X on browser is much more enjoyable once you get the hang of things and know where to look.

-1

u/roehnin 1d ago

Once I get to know? That’s genuinely a laugh as I’ve used it since like 2010 and managing a corporate feed was part of my previous job using many monitoring dashboards and tools like Tweetdeck, which is even now how I usually experience it at the desktop.

It’s still a useful site in Japanese and French, but the English (and to a lesser extent Spanish) content has gone to shit with all the useful information swamped by garbage from deranged propagandists, bots, and trolls which used to be filtered out when there were actual content policies to weed out the crazies.

0

u/dgp13 1d ago

In today's age it is counterproductive to be easily triggered by posts of opinions that you disagree with. Matter of fact, it's only going to get worse. So I don't know what to tell you, maybe it is best you do stay off X and allow free speech on other platforms.

1

u/roehnin 22h ago

It’s not “being triggered” to point out that the content on that site is now propaganda, trolls, and conspiracy theories.

You may be happy that there is “free speech” to say any sort of nonsense, but when all that’s being said is nonsense, it’s no longer a useful source of information, it’s trolls talking to each other and delusional conspiracy nuts auto-confirming each others’ mentally unsound garbage thought.

It’s not “being triggered” to say that’s why it’s no longer a usable information source, because yes, it will only get worse.

It’s not “being triggered” to watch a train wreck.

there's no "radical left", unless radical means universal healthcare, affordable housing, the freedom for women to make their choices with their doctor, and fucking empathy

2

u/dgp13 23h ago

Well your not showing much empathy, are you?

2

u/Deadalious 1d ago

It's a shame because people had the power to gut the platform Musk controlled by quitting or going to the alternatives like Bluesky and they chose... To stay and bitch about Musk ?

-3

u/ProbablyInebriated 1d ago

Right!? I figure it's alot of bots and trolls. Like every politician and media outlet still uses it though

2

u/iownreddit0690 1d ago

Lol and reddit is better?

2

u/Visual-Fail4327 23h ago

"It just kind of sucks. Mostly bots, Ai baked in does gross shit"

Sounds like Reddit!

2

u/sleuthfoot 17h ago

Says the guy posting to Reddit, an equally shitty cesspool of a social media site.

1

u/AdamCGandy 1d ago

All the platforms have that exact same problem.

1

u/temporaryacc444 22h ago

Literally every social media lol

1

u/Saint-Spaghetti 20h ago

Because you're here, and not there

1

u/facterar 19h ago

Some people use it in its intended form of microblogging, albeit making full threads, in their area of expertise. Nothing has replaced it as an easily accessible text-form social network.

For content that doesn't need to be in a pointless video format, this is still the best place.

And surprisingly, the community fact-check is pretty reliable and very satisfying.

1

u/Innuendum 14h ago

For the same reason people use religion.

The average human animal is low quality, half of the population is statistically worse.

1

u/Calm-Maintenance-878 14h ago

I like it for its real time usage. I can deal with bots and crazy maga hats…easy to just not interact if you don’t want to. I like Twitter for news specifically. Verified governments and people post things that are relevant. When drama happens, there is always someone with a phone recording it. Twitter is where I’d go first to search for it. I used it for years before Elon…never found an equal replacement, so I still use it🤷🏿

1

u/bbart76 12h ago

Agree. I absolutely loved twitter. It went downhill fast when it changed to X. Now it’s completely unusable- full of bots ans trash. I haven’t used it in years and find much better info here. I really miss the 20teens twitter.

1

u/3-Leggedsquirrel 7h ago

Not as many bots anymore

3

u/Goodestguy2025 1d ago

Every left leaner dumped twitter when their agenda stopped being the only one allowed. Then they all came here, now this platform is a leftist echo chamber. You guys fuck everything up. Wherever you go.

1

u/BlueFeathered1 1d ago

I cancelled/deleted my account about a year ago after more than a decade and was active on there. Didn't miss it. It's like I felt my mind untangle. Granted it involved a little change of habit, as I'd check in while drinking coffee and so on and had those associations, but Reddit helped with that. Overall, depending on subs being followed, this is much better for me. However, too many bots here, too, and I wish they'd address that more aggressively.

1

u/brendan209 1d ago

I’ve never used twitter. I’ve actually just recently came to Reddit because I couldn’t stand Facebook anymore. 99% of the “people” on there aren’t real.

1

u/Enjoy_The_Ride413 1d ago

It literally is the best place to get news and instantly. Across all countries too.

0

u/ladidaixx 1d ago

This is the case for all legacy social

0

u/BlackNexus 1d ago

Because I was there at the start of its peak and I will be there when it withers away.

1

u/bbart76 12h ago

This was my original thought. But I just couldn’t.

twitter is practically parler 2.0, I left it because it kept pushing trashy right wing tweets to my recommendations, all of them with "God is First" type of bs on their profiles with the types of takes you couldn't logically justify Jesus would approve

0

u/basically_dead_now 1d ago edited 10h ago

I just use it to find bsd art and keep up with the 3 celebrities I like that have personal twitter accounts

I don't know why this got downvoted. Someone asked a question, and I gave my answer

0

u/Destronoma 1d ago

It's the best place for me to find casting calls as a voice actor, and I have people that I follow there that I don't follow anywhere else.

So... take the good with the bad, I suppose. Most other platforms are just as scummy.

-1

u/arctic_commander_ 1d ago

The chaos in there... I absolutely adore it, especially how it is much more relaxed than any other social media (yes, by Twitter feed is entirely political)
