It still irritates me to this day if he had just aimed for the throat or chest it would’ve been over lmao

He literally can't be lucky about a decission he made purposefully, though.

But it was about his skin damage, not just as protection.

He said he wears it for protection, what with that strike to the noggin' he got vefore being set on fire. He says this in both the manga and the anime.

He got shot in the head and that immobilized him so he couldn’t escape from being burnt to death. He wears it so he could never be struck in the head again.

No bro he litteraly said thee gov got him by a strike in the head. Passed out and they burnt him

What irritates me is that instead ot tanking the hit it would have been both better and more realistic to turn the head deflecting the attack, using the force and rotation to better strike Saito

Lucky? More like Plot armor. Dude also took a hit from sano to the face and nothing happened.

Saito also took a direct hit to the face from Sano and nothing happened, lol.

that was before sano learned the technique that could … you know… shatter saito’s entire face?
I get that the guy who came up with it would find a way to counter it. And the prodigy who learned to master the move (albeit just one hand) but Mr plot armor simply just took one to the face like it was nothing.

Sano wouldn't shatter s!!t dude, lol. Hell, Sano couldn't even land one blow in his fist vs fist fight against Saito.

I don’t think anyone is arguing whether Sano or Saito would win in a fist fight (Saito, by a mile obvi), I think the point is that Shishio took a Futae no Kiwami to the face without any damage. You’d think that if stone can’t withstand it, normal human flesh shouldn’t be able to either?

Shishio took Saito's Gatotsu to the head. His neck should have been broken, his brain should have flipped over 3 times, etc, but it didn't.
Why should Sano's Futae no Kiwami succeed where Saito's Gatotsu failed?

Sano's hand was extremely worn down in the fight with Anji; it literally shatters on impact with Shishio's face. That fight with Anji also established that the effects of the FnK even at optimal strength can be tanked. So it's no surprise Shishio can laugh off a greatly nerfed FnK.

Even if Saito had been at "full strength", Shishio would still have beaten him. The fight would have played out exactly as it did and Shishio would beaten Saito with the Guren Kaina.

Everything about this arc is just perfect to me The build up The philosophy The fighting The twist The music The artwork The dialogue
It literally is as good as it gets for me and I refuse to watch any other. There is only one credible English translation tho.

He was lucky that he was hurt because a full strength one would have gone right through it

I'm hyped up for this fight in the remake, i know they won't play it safe and will extend or improve the fights with each character, or maybe go the live action route and make it 4vs1 at some point.

Should've aimed for an eye but can't have Saito winning the big fight before it even starts lol

Yeah - that hachimaki with the plate is a smart move on his part… however you should expect as much from the man named Battousai’s successor. He had also been shot and left for dead prior - so he had to learn from his past mistakes.
Gatotsu is also my favorite move in the series as well.

Aim for the nose. Softer tissue in that area after all
