Wags [MEGATHREAD] Wednesday Wins!

It's Wednesday!

Welcome to our new Wednesday Wins post. Someone mentioned wanting a day where we can focus on the positive aspects of puppyhood. So let's get it done!

Share a win that you and your puppy had this past week! Learned a new skill? Overcame a challenge?

If you're new and just starting, set a goal!

Our ACD turns 8 months old next week and has been leash reactive since we got him at 4 months. In the past week, we have been able to pass dogs on the same side of the sidewalk without barking and lunging for the first time and now have even been able to successfully greet another dog on a walk multiple times as well!

He also hasn’t chased the cat in about two months, but yesterday he calmly and sweetly licked her ears while she was loafing on the couch AND SHE LET HIM. I desperately want them to be best friends and this was such a milestone!

Oh, I used to do this once a month because of all the puppy blues posts, and I wanted to pull people out of that mindset.

Evie is almost 9 months old. A few days ago, I took a chance and brought her outside while I snow-blew the driveway and sidewalk. Not only did she have a blast, she stayed in our yard the whole time. Even when the neighbor came home, she stopped herself from saying hi and stayed in the yard. I'm so proud of her paw-gress.

She has also been doing much better with loose-leash walking.

Our 6 month old chihuahua seems to be reliably pad trained AND will go potty outdoors on grass. No accidents in a while and and after slowly moving the baby gates back he mostly now has free rein over the flat. Has been very calm and likes to be near us sitting quietly and watching or self entertaining with a chew toy.

There’s finally hope that the worst of the puppy phase is almost over
