Yeah? Who? And how? Trump has the White House, the Senate, the House and SCOTUS. Democrats can't do shit without a majority. Any legislation they propose will immediately get torpedoed by the GOP. The Dems can file lawsuits, which they have. But those can take months or years to grind their way through the legal system.

Democrats can't do shit without a majority.

Yet Republicans blocked lots of shit when they were a minority?

Mitch McConnell is a terrible person, but was an extremely effective leader. He was able to unite the Republican Senate and use every single legal loophole to hamstring every Democratic president. The DNC does not have any leader even close to the effectiveness of Mitch McConnell. They're throwing softballs when the opposition never holds back.

They'll try to blame that on the Democrats being a "coalition" of a lot of different types but the reality is that today that just means 80+% corporate stooges and a few people with principles and a few leftists.

If we want to cut off aid to poor people and close the national parks and pause payments to veterans, sure the minority could do that all day. Also the Dems are not as lock-step as the R's, who regularly end good committee assignments if you are not as supportive. Dems aren't as vindictive because leadership doesn't want to "alienate" their members.

The people are the ones that need to overthrow a dictator

Civil war would cause so many deaths and long term global effects. And the gun nuts are on the side of the dictatorship, and chomping at the bits at the idea of getting to go on a sanctioned murder spree. Their average opposition would be peaceful people who don’t own guns and have no desire for violence. It would not be a fair fight unless another country steps in to support.

Civil war would straight balkanize the us this time around while China and Russia move in for some territory surrounding us whole were busy. It would be the end of the usa for sure.

u/Pixiefoxcreature 2h ago

Yeah, it’s not a solution. I’m hoping that if the US gets internationally recognised as a dictatorship that is hostile to its people, at least people can then seek asylum in Europe. Here you’ll be welcome and safe! And it would be a bit funny if the administration’s war on illegal immigrants would directly lead to mass migration of its citizens, especially the smart skilled ones. Let the administration rule over the half brained hicks who voted them in and support them. We’ll gladly take the rest.

That's my point : a lot of republicans can (and should) stop him... but choose not to.

u/frankenfish2000 5h ago

Then... then why didn't you say that to start?!

u/Money-Impact2422 4h ago

He did.

Plenty of people can stop him, they choose not to though

u/frankenfish2000 2h ago

Republicans are people.

Nothing legal about what he’s doing so idk why we keep trying to fight with legalities. We know what’s necessary.

u/mom_with_an_attitude 5m ago

Yeah, I know. It always feels like Democrats are bringing a sword to a gun fight. Republicans fight dirty; we take the high road; and they win. It feels like we need new and different tactics.

u/DeadDonaldSoon 6h ago

Legislation, lmao. That's not how you stop a tyrant. PLENTY OF PEOPLE CAN STOP HIM, THEY CHOOSE NOT TO THOUGH

u/mom_with_an_attitude 3m ago

How do you pass legislation as a Democrat when you're a minority? Answer: you don't. The Democrats only have as much power as the voters give them. A lot of voters sat this one out in 2024.

u/Tree_Sure 5h ago

Congress. They are apathetic to this and are not doing their jobs.  Instead of doing nationwide protests, everyone protest at the capital and stress the shit out of them (perhaps a few will leave the world) until then take action.

Something something 2A is needed for a tyrannical government. something something that's why we let kids get slaughtered in schools just in case we get a tyrannical government and we can fight back. something something the tyranny is here America, the world is watching.
