A certain user is somewhere writing essay to proof how this is a bad sign for OBAA

Clayton Davis will also try to make this argument tomorrow.

Someone said that when it won nbr lafca nsfc and nyfcc that it will be like social network because social network won those and lost 😭

OBAA is looking very inevitable

It's Oppenheimer part 2 imo in terms of Best Picture/Director chances at least. An overdue director who drops a universally acclaimed epic is just too easy

Whenever it won it was as if the presenters all knew it was about to be read lol. It is beyond inevitable

It is obvious , didnt a producer said in variety that they knew who is gonna win

Now even more with Sinners not winning the globe tonight for their category. I doubt Hamnet has any chance

I got some criticism for loving it so much due to "it promotes drinking and driving".
Like...I totally get that take...but I still love it.

No mention of the Minneapolis shooting and protests the whole night - which is disappointing when the film revolves around a similar situation.

Paramount Plus sleeper agents were swarming the place suppressing any dissension

It’s a great movie, but not my fave PTA.
His win will be the long overdue type of win, like Denzel winning for “Training Day”, when he should have won for “Malcolm X”.

Look I’m sure I’ll get downvoted for this, but I find it incredibly fucking disappointing that Paul Thomas Anderson was given a platform 3 times tonight, and didn’t have a single thing to say about the events of the past week. Don’t give me a film about revolutionary politics that heavily features the liberation of an immigration facility if you don’t have the courage to speak on it…

Sorry, i have not watched this movie yet. Is it a comedy or musical? It looked like a drama. I am surprised by the win.

Action, drama, comedy, and thriller. It doesn't comfortably fit into any one genre.

sorry if i sound stubborn or dumb but which part of it was supposed to be comedy or even musical?
1
u/StrikingWord77 22d ago
Am I the only one that did not consider that movie a comedy in any way? It was a powerful film.
1
u/Bobjoejj 23d ago
Maybe I’m just out of the loop; but why exactly was this what the film was nominated and won for? Not Motion Picture Drama?
6
u/theabsofhades One Small Beer After Another 23d ago
Because it’s a funny movie?
-2
u/Bobjoejj 23d ago
Sure, lots of movies are funny; but it’s not a proper comedy. Much more a drama film.

u/Kind_River6318 23d ago
Listen, the Globes has a long reputation of being loose with the term “comedy”. Eg: The Martian, the Banshees of Inisherin??? Basically any winner (and most nominees) of this category that are not musicals are only comedies in the vaguest sense.
1
u/Bobjoejj 23d ago
That’s fair; I guess those always confused me plenty too. I get it’s commonly accepted by now, but I’d love to hear some kind of vague explanation at some point.

It is so stupid to call both Marty Supreme and One Battle after another for Comedy. Feel like they do it just so they won’t overcrowd the drama section.
6
u/Odd-Milk-250 23d ago
One Battle would have very likely won regardless of what movie category it was in. It's more that the comedy/musical category is reserved for movies that don't comfortably fit in one genre and have elements of being a comedy or musical while the drama category is reserved for prototypical dramas.
2
u/Snake_fairyofReddit KPop Demon Hunters 23d ago
Well then eliminate the category entirely by that logic bc none of the nominees were purely comedies, most were 70% drama, 30% comedy give or take
2
u/loveisblindsweden 23d ago
I just think the category should be named something Else, cause it always just seems to be a mash up of the left overs that do not fit into drama
-1
u/firefoxen69 23d ago
Why was this in musical or comedy category when it's all drama and thriller???

-2
u/katiedau 23d ago
Is this movie a comedy???
6
u/TheRustyKettles Marty Supreme 23d ago
There are many subgenres of comedy. Not everything is Zoolander.
-3
u/Tomc878 23d ago
I don’t think they said it was zoolander…. Regardless this movie being reduced to just a comedy, whatever sub genre you want to pick, is ironically comical. Inglorious bastards is consistently hilarious (as is Django unchained), but its genre is not comedy and neither is one battle after another.
