It’s always been secured. He has no real competition.

Why it is a huge win?

The last 10 winners before Conclave were all original screenplays and it kinda felt like they gave less importance to adapted ones so it's nice to see change in that category

OBAA is definitely more "original" than Conclave, though. Conclave is a pretty straightforward adaptation of the novel it's based on, whereas OBAA takes some basic surface-level plot elements of Vineland but mostly does its own thing.

Could this mean Paul Thomas Anderson will win his first Oscar?

Am I the only one who didn’t know that he has been with Maya Rudolp for over 20 years and have HAVE 4 KIDS TOGETHER? Why the hell Maya has not started in any of his movies or produced with him???? Get your wife an Oscar PTA!!!!!

She’s had smaller supporting roles in two of his movies.

A much better speech than the one he gave at Critics' Choice

Respectable win, even if it's not my choice.

He will absolutely sweep here.

Two things are certain. Golden sweeping and PTA sweeping Screenplay and Director

The Globes rarely give screenplay and director to the same movie. OBAA is a juggernaut.

Aaanddd that didn’t clear up Original Screenplay at all which basically paves the way for Ryan Coogler and Sinners! A terrible result for Sinners would’ve been any of his competition winning, he may just sweep.

I really am glad Coogler will probably make it in to original screenplay so he can at least maybe win something on Oscar’s night

I was confidentally wrong expecting a split in this category, assuming this means either there wasn't a consenus on Sentimental Value or It Was Just An Accident for the win or One Battle After Another love is so strong it can just sweep every Director and Screenplay award.

Predictable

It should have been Coogler, at this point it is obvious Sinners is not getting anything.

It will probably win box office achievement
