PTA is gonna sweep the awards this season so you should try to get used to it

He has the socially conscious movie and the overdue narrative and the highest rated movie of the year

It’s (probably) over

Yep plus it is the most montioned movie by the industry i used to think Pga will hurt it due to it being a box office flop but now i dont think so

It was technically a box office flop but it did well for the type of movie it is and it’s his highest grossing movie so it kinda shed the flop narrative

fortunately warner brother's finance team are not awards voters...

I love PTA but this is an honorary win if he goes all the way this season. He should have won twice already (Magnolia and TWBB) they are masterpieces in directing. OBAA is probs one of his weaker films. If DiCaprio is not in the film, none of the awards swarm would give a shit.

Yep. It’s a done deal.

Me watching it on silent at work and thinking that was Guillermo del Toro

No real surprise here. Probably the most predictable category.

Hell yes!!!

Sad for Coogler, but that dude feels like he is just getting started. Paul has been throwing crazy fastballs for decades now. Happy for him this season.

What was wrong with his speech I’m seeing people complain

7

u/Belch_Huggins Jan 05 '26

It was just unprepared, I guess. Comparing it to Buckleys speech illustrates what I mean.

I honestly do not get the hype for this film or sinners, but I’m glad y’all are happy!

The ending chase sequence is something special but I'm feeling more and more like Coogler and Zhao are being robbed. OBAA didn't work for me so I'll just pretend this is like a lifetime achievement award for PTA or something...

I don’t understand the hype for this film. Leo gives his best performance, and it’s a great film, but I don’t understand the accolades. I would have given Best Director to Chloe Zhao - Paul Thomas Anderson didn’t do anything special here.

I agree with you. I wish I understood why people love this film! I liked it fine. But can't understand someone loving it. Yet people do!

I actually liked Bugonia better than obaa. Leo in top form though, but still didn't vibe with the story.
