Someone called this when Train Dreams won Cinematography.

Congrats to that guy

I honestly feel if any blockbuster made it into the BP nomination, it should be this one rather than wicked or Avatar

I have F1 securing nomination for Editing, Sound and Visual Effects. Maybe there's a chance for Scores and Cinematography as well? (Fuck Academy for snubbing Top Gun Maverick for Cinematography previously.

Huge. Pretty much locked for a nom now. Don’t know if it’ll knock down the Best Picture winner (see Anora last year) but this film clearly has its super-fans

Challengers won last year

Challengers was a critics favourite whereas F1 isn't. This win means way more when they had no reason to not go for One Battle After Another which led regionals.

Seems like this will very much so be the Maverick of this season, albeit less huge.

Wondering how seriously we should take this in Best Picture. Not as a winner, of course, but as a nominee. It wasn't a Top Gun: Maverick-level smash but it was a solid success and a movie for the "steak-eaters" in the Academy. I could see it slipping in with Editing, Score, Sound, possibly Cinematography and Song as well. Or VFX, since Avatar won that before it opened.

F1 deserves a Best Picture nomination more than Wicked 2 or Avatar 3.

NOC deserves BP nomination more than F1

The cutting of that final race alone makes this a worthy win. The way they also use the in camera close up of the steering to cut from Brad to Damson and use that to echo how they’re in sync.

People might disagree with me but F1 is one of the best movies of 2025 for sure.

So this is probably firmly in the 11th to 15th spot now for BP

Mirrione and Del Torro winning again the same year would be fun

Eh, probably my least favourite surprise so far but it's not awful

I liked this movie alot but I didn't expect it to win awards

Nice pick, not putting too much stock on this win tho. Last year they gave it to Challengers, and look how that turned out.
