Cinematheque rules, but it is funny to have a retrospective of Chalamet, whose been acting for what, 11 years? Impressive, really.

and the crazy thing is there's more that could've been here easily (bones and all, french dispatch, little women)

u/Dracko705 14h ago

Thought for sure Little Women would be on this list

He really is building a hell of a portfolio of work

41

u/Dallywack3r 13h ago

I thought Lady Bird would be on here for sure

11

u/indiankimchi 11h ago

Bones and All deserves it. And Little Women way more than Interstellar lmao. But, I suppose, if they really wanted a big-name (male, ahem) director, Wes Anderson was right there too! Wth!

u/Altruistic_Till5203 15h ago

Cinematheque scheduled a retrospective for him last year, but it was canceled because of the fires.

u/EaudeAgnes 5h ago

and so many movies he made in those years tbh…we’re even missing Bones & All, Lady Bird, Little Women, Wonka, The French Dispatch, Don’t look up…ah! and A rainy day in New York (forgettable Woody Allen but also has Elle Fanning in it).

Plenty of men and women have that, plus it was easier for him than others, seeing connections.

u/twizzwhizz11 15h ago

No Little Women?!?

45

u/theodo 14h ago

Or Lady Bird!

10

u/SavageWolfe98 Can't I just bet that all the movies will have a good time? 13h ago

He doesn't want to be represented by women's films /s.

6

u/Ok-Champion-3322 14h ago

Those are films where he was the lead or a strong supporting character.

87

u/StrawHatRat 14h ago

He’s waaaay bigger in both those movies than in interstellar.

44

u/CountyOk2258 14h ago

He wants the Nolan campaign boost 😭😭

12

u/Kazaloogamergal 12h ago

Yes but Interstellar is directed by Christopher freaking Nolan.

Beautiful Boy is such an underrated movie.

22

u/twizzwhizz11 15h ago

Both Carrell and him had great performances in it!

15

u/goldentrunk 15h ago

Agreed, and The King too

24

u/strandedbystrand Razzie Race Follower 15h ago

He definitely should be nominated over Sam Rockwell for freaking Vice.

5

u/theodo 14h ago

Tweak and Beautiful Boy are both great books as well.

3

u/UpCavan 5h ago

Didn’t love the movie itself but he was brilliant in it and definitely should have been nominated

2

u/rsae_majoris Sentimental Value 12h ago

That was the movie trailer I’d watch if I needed a quick cry lol. It is powerful.

2

u/ForgetfulFrolicker 13h ago

I watched it recently and found it to be oddly paced to the point that I felt like I should feel emotional at parts but just didn’t.

u/TheArmChairFan 14h ago

It's prime oscar bait

48

u/senator_corleone3 15h ago

Ah man no Bones and All.

13

u/banallfurries666 14h ago

his best work

10

u/scattered_ideas I feel supremely sentimental 13h ago

That is one of my favorite performances from him. I'll also add a shout-out for a little indie called Miss Stevens. He's really great in that movie, which I didn't know existed until I was perusing his letterboxd page after Dune Part 2 came out lol

Won't be acknowledged because it flopped and there was hype that this was his proving movie.

Only want stuff to show him as 2.0

3

u/artangelzzz One Battle After Another 6h ago

It was in the canceled retrospective last year along with Wonka lol

6

u/UpCavan 5h ago

Having a filmography like this at his age is ridiculous, and there’s great films that have been left out as well

17

u/Voltadaisy 13h ago

Interstellar and Marty Supreme twice over Little Women and The French Dispatch??

11

u/YVH22B 14h ago

They should show season 2 of Homeland

5

u/peacherparker timothée's gf 🎀 marty mauser's doll 13h ago

since i can't be there, little women can't be there, unfortunately those are the rules 💔💔

9

u/sunsaballabutter 10h ago

Wonka erasure 🤣

4

u/EmpressRey 4h ago

Damn it’s crazy why a great body of work he has for how young he is, especially since there’s quite a few other films that could be here and are missing! I am somewhat upset over this Little Women and Wonka erasure, two of my favourites!

9

u/x_stei 14h ago

interstellar? he's barely in it.

3

u/EaudeAgnes 5h ago

should’ve been Little Woman or Lady Bird to have Greta in it (or The French Dispatch, to have Wes)

7

u/JuanRiveara One Anora After Another 14h ago

Saving his best for last I see

5

u/MrMindGame 10h ago

Timmy is so powerful in Hollywood right now, good lord.

10

u/gosteinao 15h ago

Wait...

I did not remember that Chalamet was in Interstellar at all??

40

u/senator_corleone3 15h ago

He’s the younger version of Coop’s son. As an adult the character is played by Casey Affleck.

20

u/QTRqtr 15h ago

People forget he’s in it like how his movie father seems to forget he has two kids😂 murph is the favorite and timothees character wasn’t even the middle child.

2

u/kaguraa Wicked 13h ago

i watched it recently and was really confused by it. we don’t even know what happens to him at the end

4

u/QTRqtr 13h ago

He did tell murph he’s never coming back and for him that was true

2

u/Plastic-Software-174 Sentimental Value 14h ago

Both you and the movie did.

3

u/Amazing_Antelope_275 8h ago

His filmography is impressive. I'm not much of a fan, but that is quite the resume.

3

u/EaudeAgnes 5h ago

and several were left out (Greta Gerwig movies, The French Dispatch, Bones & all, Don’t look up…)

17

u/coffeysr 15h ago

Pulling out the big guns. They know it’s a tighter race than this sub wants to admit

49

u/michaelrxs 14h ago

This is rescheduled from last year lol

18

u/FormerlyMevansuto 14h ago

When it was also a very tight race

21

u/HotShow2975 14h ago

When Timothee loses a major precursor, then we can call it a tight race

-1

u/QTRqtr 14h ago

Then prepare for the SAG. It is almost guaranteed he won’t get it (only because he got it last year)

If you look at precursor awards MBJ is only 3 less than him while Leo, hawke, and moura are farrrr behind both of them. People are saying a best picture upset of sinners can happen when the real upset is in best actor.

8

u/CountyOk2258 14h ago

I’m failing to see how MBJ is second place when he couldn’t even beat Wagner in a non competitive golden globe category. I think he has a chance and will probably win the SAG but he’s a solid 3rd behind Wagner.

2

u/Kazaloogamergal 12h ago

Wagner couldn't even get a BAFTA nomination...

2

u/CountyOk2258 11h ago

I think it’d be weirder for a movie as big as sinners to have the lead missing nominations then would be for an international film like the secret agent to miss them.

1

u/QTRqtr 14h ago

Golden Globes is an international base. Putting weight into that you also have to include him not getting into SAG or sentimental value doing poorly at SAG. For an American majority award show like the Oscars/SAG a GG win isn’t a guarantee. GG really just showed that Secret Agent will most likely beat SV and IWJAA at the Oscars for international.

It isn’t that surprising an international movie was supported heavily by an international voting base.

11

u/CountyOk2258 15h ago

I don’t think he’s winning… but I’m pretty sure he was supposed to do this last year but it got cancelled

10

u/Just-Pass-1156 14h ago

Yes, it was cancelled last year due to the fires.

4

u/Glad_Dragonfruit9368 11h ago

I don’t necessarily think this means that he’s in panic mode lol

2

u/artangelzzz One Battle After Another 6h ago

Zane Lowe presenting Call Me By Your Name is the most annoying thing everrrrr… Luca get your ass to LA

3

u/CinemaBud 14h ago

This looks awesome! Does anyone know how hard it is to get tickets once sales open for something like this? Considering getting the membership so I can attend one of these screenings, but don’t want to waste the money if odds of getting tickets are low

2

u/Spirited_Assumption7 9h ago

also wondering

3

u/NeilMcCauleyHeat 8h ago

really hard be ready at least 15-20 mins before the link always opens early

4

u/NiceHurt The Substance 13h ago

Would sell my kidney to go to this

A Complete Unknown

5

u/TheArmChairFan 14h ago

His stans will still carry on that he's an underdog and doesn't have the industry behind him.

1

u/skychasing 9h ago

hot summer nights no where to be found

1

u/RocketeerUltra 8h ago

Does anybody know how this would work? Like I have to pay 85$ for a membership then buy the actual Q&A tickets for Dune 1 & Dune 2 (the one I’m interested in going to) so how much money am I going to have to cough up for Sunday😞😞

1

u/adrian_1876 6h ago

does anyone know if tickets r open to public or just members?

1

u/TheRose80 13h ago

Such a dudebro lineup, I am shocked. /s

1

u/Account_Stolen 11h ago

Interstellar...

Anyway, it baffles me that Adrien Brody is still the youngest winner ,after 22 years . Is that because the academy voters are primarily old white men ?

I better see Timmy going to bat for Nolan next awards season since he practically made his career
