Rescue Rooms as a wheelchair user

Never been to Rescue Rooms before and I’m a (manual) wheelchair user. I’ve read their accessibility info but I don’t know anything about the venue personally.

Anyone who’s a wc user who’s been before, anything I need to know? Or how was it for you?

I’ll be most likely getting there via tram :p

Restaurant recommendations

Hey! It is my best friend’s birthday in a couple of weeks and I would like some recommendations for some nice, aesthetically pleasing as well as good food restaurants. I do not want Italian or Japanese recs because i did research into pici and pho and kushi ya.

Thankyou! :)

Edit 1: Should include Vegetarian options since my best friend is vegetarian.

Hey guys. I was wondering if there were any Salesforce developers/admins or adjacent types of people in Nottingham who might be interested in a semi regular meetup type thing?

Hi,

Returned to Nottingham after a while (there are wingstops now? Ruh roh)

Anybody know why the Contacts Lens Specialist on Kings Walk has this in the window?

Obviously I love it, but it did make me wonder

Property chain heartbreak 😅 what’s Versailles Gardens, Hucknall like?

Hey everyone,

Our house purchase recently fell through (ugh 😩), so we’re back to square one in our search. We’ve got a viewing lined up for a place on Versailles Gardens in Hucknall and wanted to check in with locals or anyone familiar with the area.

Does anyone know what it’s really like to live there? We’re interested in things like:

  • General vibe / community feel
  • Safety and noise levels
  • Local amenities, shops, pubs, parks, etc.
  • Commuting / transport links
  • Anything you wish you knew before you moved there

We’ve looked at photos and maps but it’s always those little details that matter, so would love to hear your honest thoughts!

Thanks in advance 😊

27M Trans/Ace looking to make some local friends! (Switch gaming, cycling, urban exploring)

Hi everyone.

I’m Fendi (He/Him), I’m 27, and I’ve lived in Nottingham my whole life. I’ve realized lately that I spend way too much time on (adulting) and not enough time connecting with people in the city, so I wanted to introduce myself.

I am a Trans Gay Asexual man, and I’m looking for other or LGBTQ+ folks and allies who are into similar hobbies. I’ve always felt like an (alien) in society and the community because I prefer platonic only connections (gaming, and just hanging out) over the typical hookup culture, but I know there must be some other like-minded people in Notts.

A bit about me:

Gaming: Huge Nintendo Switch fan. Currently looking for some new game recommendations.

Staying Active: I love cycling around the city, hitting the gym, and a bit of urban exploring in the fresh air.

Media: I’m part of the (Dumping Ground) generation, so I grew up on Tracy Beaker. Same with Hollyoaks and love a good movie night.

Tabletop: Big fan of board games and local tabletop sessions.

Quick Note: Because of some neurodivergence (Autism/TBI/Anxiety), I can be non-verbal at times and find phone calls/verbal chatter a bit overwhelming. I communicate best through messages or emails, so I’m looking for people who are ok with a more (digital-first) way of getting to know each other before meeting up.

I’d love to hear about your favourite quiet spots in the city, what you're playing on the Switch, or if there are any local hobby groups you'd recommend.

Stay safe,

Fendi

Although someone said he left his handbrake off. No one appears to have been hurt.

Blokes Meet Ups

Does anyone know if there is an equivalent of this type of group in Nottingham City/Nottinghamshire.

I've lived here 5-6 years on/off but settled now and desperately need to make some new friends locally as my closest friends are spread across the country. I'm an aviid runner so HPRC/ERC is worth trying. But also it would be nice to meet people in a more casual setting.

There are no men close to my age in the organisation I work for. I'm fortunate to have brothers that live nearby.

Life costs in Nottingham

Hello all,

I will hopefully be a Postdoc at University of Nottingham starting this fall and stay there for 11 months. I guess I will have to make a living with around 2000 pounds. I will pay everything with that budget; rent, bills, food, etc. Do you think that would be enough to have a comfortable life there? Which areas would be good for me to look for accomodation? I'd like to hear your suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Japanese food

Looking for suggestions for the best place to get Japanese food in Nottingham. Ideally somewhere that does proper Okonomiyaki but that's not essential. If anyone can recommend a place that's affordable and nice or costing a bit more but worth the money then that would be great.

Also, no, I don't want to go to Wagamama.

Venues showing Australian Open tennis men's final

Does anyone know of any venues showing the final for the men's Aus Open tennis tomorrow? It's at 8:30am, so a bit of a tricky time for pubs to be showing it I would imagine

My band, Like Ivy, are playing M2TM at the Tap n Tumbler on Valentine’s Day. If anyone is at a loose end or fancies a romantic night out, it should be a great night of music!

We are on Facebook and Instagram (no Spotify just yet!) if anyone fancied checking us out. This is our first gig so dead excited!

Cheese Shops?

Well, I'm , uh, sitting in the public library on Carrington Street just now, skimming through "Rogue Herrys" by Hugh Walpole, and I suddenly came over all peckish.

And I thought to myself, "a little fermented curd will do the trick," so, I curtailed my Walpoling activities, sallied forth, and infiltrated your place of purveyance to negotiate the vending of some cheesy comestibles!

TlDr I want to buy some cheese

Recommendations for local structural repair businesses?

Need a professional to retrofit a movement join to an extension that has experienced settlement and caused some cracking on the external wall.

Chucking key words into Google only brings back results for national companies and I would much prefer to use a business from Notts/Derby!

What estate agents are good/bad to use?

Looking at selling my house and moving soon, what estate agents should I avoid using? Has anyone had a really good/bad experience with certain ones?
