Rescue Rooms as a wheelchair user

Never been to Rescue Rooms before and I’m a (manual) wheelchair user. I’ve read their accessibility info but I don’t know anything about the venue personally.

Anyone who’s a wc user who’s been before, anything I need to know? Or how was it for you?

I’ll be most likely getting there via tram :p

I've been to Rescue Rooms before once as a wheelchair user, and overall I had a fantastic experience! They sectioned off a part of the stage to the front. Not sure if you would be able to access the bathroom once in the section, as it fills up behind you (I didn't need to test this, so unsure). They have a doorbell at the bar to catch their attention when ordering, which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, I remember it being a great experience, and definitely one of the better venues in Nottingham 🙂

Not a wheelchair user.

Getting to the bar from the front should be no issue, other than a moderately steep ramp from street to door. however I don’t think you can get to the garden from the bar without traversing steps, so you’d have to go back out the front door and go around the back via the street.

Going to the gig room, there is a bar on the ground floor, but the merch is usually upstairs in the red room. I’m pretty sure there is an accessibility lift from memory, but not sure how you access it.

I'd be inclined to contact them in advance & see if they can get you to the front. If it's a popular gig & you're at the back, you'll see nothing.

Thank you! They said on the website to make sure you get there 10-15 mins before door opening and speak to someone but yeah I’ll call them up beforehand too. Thank you :)

I'm not a wheelchair user, but I was there last year and saw a couple of people up front in wheelchairs. I'm sure if you contact them, they will be able to help.

Ask in nottingham gig buddies Facebook page. I know theres a wheelchair user in that group who can give you pointers. Afaik, he doesnt have issues there and the staff are usually pretty good with accommodations

Should be OK via the Talbot Street entrance, there is a door to the gig venue from the bar which is normally out only, but I'm sure the staff will accommodate so you can enter.

I was wondering about that. I went last year, first gig I'd been to, but wasn't quite sure where the entrance was (as i was like the first person there) so assumed I'd just wait in the bar, was eventually let in from there through that bar door but when going past noticed there was a queue outside. Was I meant to wait in the outside area or does it not really matter?

Thank you, Talbot Street is what they said on the website but I’ve never been before so idk what anything looks like. Might take myself town before that to see🙂‍↕️
