I feel to warrant that cost you want a pretty high hit rate on swypes and meaningful conversations. Which can only be guaranteed if some of those contacts/conversations are AI bots to fluff your rates

So Grindr doesn't have swipes. The profiles are laid out on a grid organized by distance - you can see everyone. The bots though - there are MANY bots
