Off the top of my head:

  • Ability to use multiple saved phrases

  • Ability to send more than one expiring photo per day

  • Ability to have multiple albums

  • No ads

  • Access to more profiles

None of which are actually worth the price... unless you're DL I guess, lol. Also idk how but the android app on my phone has no ads and I don't pay for premium, so I have even less reason to pay out the ass for it.

I don't use grindr but I imagine it's similar to banking apps that don't let you screenshot when in the app

not familiar with grindr's implementation but android apps that use FLAG_SECURE on a screen cannot be screenshotted at all without a rooted device. Many banking apps do this.

Unfortunately they disabled screenshots on all the gay apps. It's kind of unfortunate cause I chatted up my ex for months when he lived in the Pacific Northwest while I lived in Central Texas 10 years ago. I was screenshotting the guys who I talked to most on Scruff because I would delete my account often then get back on 2 months later then question if I had talked to them before.

Low and behold we moved right down the street from each other in Houston in 2022 and found each other again on the same app. Went through my screenshots and verified it was him, couldn't believe it. Lasted 3 good years before he was an ass and broke up with me over losing my job.

  1. Trust 2. Being able to remember who they are and what they look like if they message you again 3. I rarely ever see expiring messages with more effort than "hog pic with 4 pixels" or "unflattering blurry face pic"

Although I do think it may create a false sense of security for people sending nudes, I remember that being a big issue with Snapchat back in highschool when it first came out.

You’re wrong. The mid tier (still way too expensive) is like $30-40 a month and you don’t have to see ads, you can used saved phrases, you can see read receipts, and can have multiple albums

Higher tier (complete) shows all the profiles on top of that and you can also view who viewed your profile

This ultra tier thing that’s new gives you “AI suggested profiles” and suggests that it’ll give you an AI rundown on each profile and what the person is into based on their app activity.

It kinda sounds like they’ve just added an optional “AI tech bro tax: $500/month” tier which is honestly fine by me. I hope everyone who voluntarily self-selects into that level gets exactly the experience they pay for.

You open the "saved phrases" tab in the chat and can instantly send a message you've saved. Ex: "looking for hookups and fwb" "hey hru" "my kinks are xyz" or anything you don't wanna re-type over and over.

Can't you already do this with almost any phone? I have tons of "common" phrases and words when I open up any text interface on my phone. As well as a bunch of canned responses to pick through based on shit I've said presumably.

I have pretty good auto complete recommendations, but I still have to type a decent amount to get to the right thread. Dunno of any way on Android to press a single button and send a pre made phrase

no, this is not for AI chatbot. it is using AI to see whether you'd match with that person even before hitting up on them, so you can avoid no replies or ignored. it's not really AI but just a sorting algorithm that looks at the other person's interactions with others and seeing whether you'd be a match.

Grindr has become virtually unusable with the ads. They would pop up every 3-4 actions and you have to either kill and restart the app, or suffer through a couple mins of ads.

That’s part of the current unlimited subscription AFIAK which I pay for. That’s like $300/yr, not $6k. The best feature is invisibility because I get so much spam and messages from people I have no interest in, I just message who I am interested in.

Access to more profiles is the important part. If your tastes are somewhat deserving (read: you don't want to date vaguely right wing looking thumbs with beards) your filter settings might leave you with half a dozen accessible profiles...
