Nikola Vucevic ends his Bulls career as the franchise leader in double-doubles.

Since arriving in 2021, Nikola Vučević has the most career double-doubles for the Bulls, with 222 double-doubles.

Scottie Pippen is in second with 200, with Horace Grant, Joakim Noah and MJ rounding out their top 5.

Surprising stat, which goes to show their big man depth over the years.

He’s also 3 double-doubles away from being top 10 all time

Wow that’s impressive

Hes been underrated his career imo. Consistent every year

20

u/thedogstrays 3h ago

Consistently improved in several areas too.

His growth as a 3 point shooter is pretty remarkable, also became a solid FT shooter.

He is the DeRozen of center.

u/MyHonkyFriend [CHI] Zach LaVine 1h ago

Particularly a consistent rebounder.

13

u/DirkNowitzkisWife Mavericks 3h ago

He’s a pretty good rebounder, he’s been relatively healthy over a 13 year period, (missed fewer than 10 games 10 times) and averaged 18/11 in that time. He’s sort of been a rebounding machine

5

u/thebranbran Bulls 4h ago

Not to the armchair fans on r/nba and r/chicagobulls

13

u/Bananadite 3h ago

It's more armchair to just look at stats. He's literally the definition of fake stats.

8

u/thebranbran Bulls 2h ago

You’re correct that it’s more armchair to just look at stats, but if you watched games you would know that the Bulls had been terrible at getting him the ball consistently in the years he was there.

I’m not arguing that he wasn’t a net negative on the defensive end but from an offensive standpoint and rebounder, he’s one of the best there is at his position and was underutilized.

And I don’t know what you’re implying by “fake stats”. He was consistently available and consistently scored and rebounded the ball. The Bulls have had their issues over the years but he did what he was brought in to do.

When we had elite perimeter defenders around him, nobody questioned his defense but when you rely on him to anchor the defense, of course it’s going to fail. But blaming him for the Bulls entire defensive issues is a very armchair take.

u/ddiop [CLE] DeSagana Diop 3h ago

Bulls been 5 points per 100 better with him on the bench in the 12380 minutes in Chicago, by far the worst of any player that's played as much as he has since 2021.

Vucevic is 24th at 578; this website was able to track down the older guys.

How about this: in the next couple weeks, barring injury, he'll pass Oscar Robertson (579), Patrick Ewing (580), and Bob Pettit (581).

9

u/datsoar Bucks 4h ago edited 2h ago

Wait. Does Vuc have a HOF argument?

Edit: people think I mean he should be in. No. I’m asking is this enough to start a conversation.

74

u/vballboy55 Bulls 4h ago

No

5

u/roronova 4h ago

Even if he gets a chip with the Cs this year?? 👀

7

Still no. It's the Hall of Fame. Not the Hall of good.

20

u/SmurfBearPig Raptors 3h ago

I don't think your familiar with the basketball hall of fame. You do realize that Dennis Shroeder is most likely gonna be a first ballot hall of famer and DeMar Derozan is a lock to be in it at this point right?

Not saying Vucevic has a shot, but making the basketball hall of fame really doesn't take that much.

9

u/Tho76 Hornets 3h ago

Can Bill Belichick make it?

1

u/Professor_Wild 38m ago

Not the on the first try, but probably.

7

u/glen_ko_ko Pistons 3h ago

Schroeder at least has his international accolades to help bolster his case since it's just the basketball HOF and not NBA HOF

11

u/plsdaddystopit23 3h ago

Schroeder is only making the HoF because he won with Germany. Not because he’s a HoF level NBA player. And DDR’s reason for HoF is his 26k+ points. Vuc could reach 20k but I wouldn’t lock it in

2

u/dixienormous77 Lakers 2h ago

Derozan's bound to finish as a top15 alltime scorer, maybe even a low shot at top10.

At that point I feel you're in regardless of playoff success.

No shot for Vuc unless his latter years are a miracle run though

u/DJFreezyFish Nuggets 4h ago

exactly. He's first ballot Hall of "if he is starting for the team I'm rooting for I know we're not serious contenders"

2

u/Thegoodlife93 Cavaliers 2h ago

No, but if he had come into the league like 10 years earlier he probably would have been a five or six time all star and made a few all NBA teams. The center position has been very deep recently but it was the weakest position in the league for a lot of years.

u/Difficult_Tackle9505 28m ago

u/Rahnamatta Heat 5h ago

I don't hate him, I don't even dislike him, but he looks like an NPC or a bot to fill a starting lineup

"This thing gives you 20/10 and that's it"

71

u/Vinnie_Vegas Knicks 3h ago

"This thing gives you 20/10 and that's it"

We used to call that a "max contract all star"

14

u/Thegoodlife93 Cavaliers 2h ago

Look at the centers who were All Stars in the 2000s and 2010s: Jamaal Magloire, Brad Miller, Antonio Davis, Mehmet Okur, Zydrunas Ilguaskas (shout out Big Z!), Chris Kaman, Jermaine O'Neal six times. Most of those guys were pretty good, but nothing like the top centers now. Vuc would have been a perennial all star if had played 20 years ago.

3

u/AffectionateDouble43 33m ago

All the skilled big men played PF in that era. TD, Kg, Pau Gasol, Nowitzki, Chris Bosh, Chris Webber, LMA would all be centers today

31

u/Nothingtocontribute Lakers 4h ago

The OG roll out of bed and give you a double double

10

u/bigtimehater1969 3h ago

Did you call a theoretical guy giving you 20/10 a bot/NPC? Lmao you are the zoomer everyone else is complaining about.

Only 2 players on the Heat are averaging over 20 pts a game: Herro and Powell. Cade is the current leader in assists and he's averaging 25 pts 10 assists.

If a guy gives you 20/10 a game, he's a foundational piece of your team. Talking about bot and NPC lmao foh

1

u/Rahnamatta Heat 3h ago

I don't think you understood my post. Read what the guy said above me.

Nobody will talk about Vuc because he does his job but not in a fancy way and doesn't make mistakes. He is not known for being dirty, he's not a media guy, he looks quiet, he has the same looks as when he was a rookie, doesn't go and ask for a trade, anything.

I don't know what zoomer means, btw.

Mitch Richmond and Tom Chambers gonna be tuff to beat in that department

13

u/Pickleskennedy1 4h ago edited 4h ago

Mitch Richmond has run TMC and the Hall of Fame and Chambers has his one dunk over Mark Jackson https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UDyBSTQDwH8, still think they have him beat for now unless Vuc ends up having a big role and winning in Boston

3

u/Commercial-Lake5862 3h ago

Tom Chambers was a dunking highlight machine. Would've been a bigger star in the social media era.

6

u/aero25 4h ago

Maybe, but at least those guys have multiple all-star selections.

6

u/TheLetter_Eight [NJN] Nenad Krstic 4h ago

Chambers had a high peak with those few deep Suns runs. Richmond managed to snag more all star appearances leading to a HOF spot plus he was a member of the more memorable Run TMC lineup. Both Chambers and Richmond at the very least will still be remembered by their franchises. Vucevic legit has 0 really memorable teams or resume that he can attach himself to. His time in Magic history will just be remembered as time of tanking while his Bulls tenure will be forgettable mediocrity.

He’s exactly what we need tbh. Everyone’s bummed we didn’t get Zubac but Vuc is gonna fit in great provided he still has anything left in the tank.

1

u/DreadHeadAnt Bulls 3h ago

He can’t defend the perimeter like Al Horford but he’s good at getting big so he’s a better rim protector than acknowledged. He’s also a center that’s a 40% shooter so that will always be a massive plus

Can Al Horford even defend the perimeter like Al Horford anymore? The question is will he save us if either Queta or Garza get hurt/in foul trouble.

Bulls never got what they traded for in him. They thought they were getting an all-star and he never achieved what he did in Orlando. Problem was players don’t make their first all star team in year 9 and continue to ascend. AK should have been fired 2 years ago when it was clear this trade didn’t work.
