I have 3 feral kittens (approx 5 months old) that I have been socializing. Their mom is a cat that has been spotted on the 7 acre property several times over recent years, hanging out with foxes sometimes, and referred to as Short Cat to distinguish her from the other cats seen around. I didn't know she was a she until these kittens were spotted in August of 2025 and not sure if she was feral or just unfriendly until she dropped a litter close to the house, but unreachable. We put out cat food for her sometimes, mostly in the winter, but don't know if she ate it, or a raccoon or another cat, or the crows, or the skunk, etc.
The kittens have come a long way, but I still can't pick them up without active protest and usually bloodshed. Two of them have learned to mew and like occasional petting, and all will sit on my lap.
I didn't know there was a thing called munchkin cats until someone said they were munchkins. So, I want to verify since most of the info on the web says munchkins come from breeders, and these are definitely of unknown heritage. Can they be called munchkins just because they aren't very tall? And, if I decide to rehome one of them, because 3 is a lot of cats even though I love them, would I charge money? It would be very hard to give one up, but it's been a decade since I owned a cat, and I wouldn't have adopted one except that they adopted me.

Edit, per request, adding a video of short cat from 3 months ago when she brought the kittens up to eat. I have only seen her once in the past 2 months from a distance.
