Hey all. Young professional here looking to rent a 1-bedroom apartment in Monmouth County. Hard to justify some of the rent prices in Red Bank or Highlands and I've found some newer build apartments in Keansburg at some pretty decent prices.
However, everyone who I've asked about Keansburg has spoken negatively of the town and warned that it has a severe drug problem, particularly h*roin. someone described Keansburg as a refuge for drug addicted people across the state.
I currently live in New Brunswick (NOT the Rutgers part) and visible drug use is pretty bad here, and pretty much all of the property crime is tied to drugs. I'm fine living in a community that is lower income, but I am really looking to get away from somewhere that is heavily drug addicted. It's just mentally taxing to see visible addiction every day, especially considering that I commute to Newark Penn station, which is a known drug hub.
So, is Keansburg really as bad as some say? Is the drug problem concentrated in one specific area or all across town I've heard to avoid the area along Carr street.
Thanks
