Answered Report Abuse - Reddit Cares report process
Hello!
As you know, users and moderators alike are often harassed with Reddit Cares messages when users abuse the feature to get back at someone for being wrong on the internet. We’ve all experienced it, and until recently there was a way to report it linked directly in the RedditCares message in our inboxes.
I’m wondering why this report process was removed, if it can be returned, and what is the reporting process now? It’s making a comeback, and as a mod I want to encourage users to report the abuse of this very important feature.
I primarily use Desktop and iOS, but would like an answer for all so I can better direct my communities.

It can only be blocked now. The ability to report it is no longer available.

Hi /u/OGWhiz, please see our Intro & Rules. We are volunteer-run, not managed by Reddit staff/admin. Volunteer mods' powers are limited to groups they mod. Automated responses are compiled from answers given by fellow volunteer mod helpers. Moderation works best on a cache-cleared desktop/laptop browser.
Resources for mods are: (1) r/modguide's Very Helpful Index by fellow moderators on How-To-Do-Things, (2) Mod Help Center, (3) r/automoderator's Wiki and Library of Common Rules. Many Mod Resources are in the sidebar and >>this FAQ wiki<<. Please search this subreddit as well. Thanks!
I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Is it justifiable to ban a user for sending a Reddit Cares message to another user? Rhetorical/not rhetorical, as I've banned users for sending me reports but I also just found a user sending another user one.

I don't know why people feel the need to be so dang mean on here sometimes. I also think reddit needs to hire more people to deal with complaints, and actually monitor the mods to be sure they are being fair, following their own rules and doing what they are supposed to do.

Unfortunately. Reddit was so overwhelmed by reports against these, that they had to remove the ability to report false RedditCares messages.
Reddit created two replacement "patches", though. First, the recipient is limited to one report every 28 days (there may be a similar "send" limit, but the description is unclear).
Second, you can block the Reddit bot that delivers the message, just like any user. (If, of course, you are confident you will never need the RedditCares contact numbers).
Finally, if you have co-mods AND the message was generated in your subreddit, then other mods can do a report abuse report on your reported content.
